I track them as well but haven’t gotten much out of it, particularly the vertical oscillation. The one metric I would like to know more about is running power. For whatever reason, you can only track power if you have that data field pre-loaded on a watch face. I am curious to know more about this mainly because it seems like mine is significantly higher than others I see who have power data displayed on their runs too. I’m also probably heavier than most runners at 190 lbs, so maybe that plays into it. I know there are some out there who use power zones to train based on effort instead of speed/HR. Would be curious to learn more but haven’t found much good reading on the subject.

Kind of feel like I’m in the same boat. Got all this data ain’t got a clue what to do with it. Think I’m most interesting in the ground contact time. I always think of myself as a Clydesdale runner so this should give some insight.
I think you can track power if you switch to Coros. They have a foot pod that has the metric. I think Ben Johnson on Instagram trains based on power and that dude is a robot. Went from an overweight hobby jogger to a sub 2:50 marathon human metronome.

Started running about 2 or 3 months ago....started on couch 2 5K app...did all the way to week 8 which is the final week I think, and just started doing my own thing.... I basically just started running for 30 minutes on Mon., Wed., and Fridays and was barely, and I mean barely getting 2 miles in under 30 minutes...
Now I get a little more, I get 2.25 miles in, in 30 minutes. I've also changed up and added just a Saturday morning 1 mile run in. Today I'm going to eliminate the 30 minute time and just run for 2.5 miles... and hopefully build up to the 3.2 miles. So far since starting I've lost a total of 15lbs., I know it's not much, but it's a start for me in the right direction.
Made this post 10 days a go, and yesterday, completed my first 5K in about 7 or 8yrs. Felt great!! Now moving on to other goals!!!

That is no small feat in this weather. Nice work!
I didn’t think I would finish my workout yesterday. That last 1k interval was absolutely brutal.

Looking into the MS Gulf Coast Marathon in December.
I did not meet my time goal of four hours in Houston in 2022. Missed it by 15 or so minutes, so I'd really like to get this one done right. I've thought of a million things I'd do differently and hopefully better, the first of which is nutrition.
Thoughts on this race?
I'm still in good running shape and bang out 4 - 5 milers with ease at 8:35 - 8:55/mi pace.

MS Gulf is flat fast course as long as you don't get that 80 degree december day. there's one on-ramp at mile 25 you run up. No reason someone can't set PR there. it was my first marathon and went 2:57.

Good point to point race that’s flat. Headwind was really bad when I did it. Same crew that puts on the Louisiana Marathon, they do an excellent job.

Less than a day from my debut marathon at grandmas! Woke up to a balmy 43 degrees in Gordon Wisconsin this morning. Stoked to get to run in actual cool weather again. Aiming to go sub 3 hours with a soft goal of 2:50. Gonna take out with the 3:00 pace group the first 10k then try and negative split each 10k after.
If you download the grandmas marathon app you can live track the race. My bib number is 4950 (yes I’m doxing myself)

How’d it go Pedro? Was tracking you toward the end, splits looked good!

2:53:04! My plan worked out really well. Started a bit hot but didn’t feel bad and was able to still go about it the way I wanted to. Only hiccup was me trying to ham it up with the crowd at mile 22. Put my arms in the air to do the pump up motion and my legs did not like that and instantly started cramping. It worked out after a quarter mile thankfully but I think I could’ve gone closer to 2:52/2:51 high without that because I definitely got timid the rest of the way.
Grandmas is a fricking phenomenal event though. Would recommend to everyone

Good stuff! If I ever run a marathon, Grandma's will make the list.
Also we definitely know some of the same people
I ran some AAU with a guy named Lane who you were probably teammates with

Awesome, congrats man! Wish I had the chops to run like that. What shoes did you run in and what was your fueling strategy? Anything you think you’d do differently on the next one?

Oooooo yea. Haha. Lanes my boy. We hated each other first two years of our time in Monroe and then got close. Haven’t talked to him in a minute though.

I ran in adios pro 2’s. love that shoe. Really comfortable and smooth carbon racer. Fueling wise I bought a pack of caffeinated gu chews and tossed 2 down every 5 miles with last ones going in at mile 22/23. Water every 2 miles with Powerade every 6 until mile 20 when I started just tossing down anything they threw at me
I’d definitely get more volume in my training. I signed up for this last minute so I ended up just tacking on to the half marathon plan I was on. Based on my half time (from a few weeks ago) I probably should’ve been able to go 2:46 or so but I was missing the volume. I’m planning on spending the next couple months working on 5k/10k stuff to get back into the sub 16 range there then starting marathon work for Boston in December. I think with the right training I can make a run at 2:40

33 miles this week. Did 12 easy with a fast finish on the last two. Felt good besides a slight groin twinge that’s been bothersome. Next races are July 4th and Thanksgiving. Just maintaining until next year.

Finished second in the Q50 5 miler out at Bogue Chitto yesterday. It was brutally hot and downright unsafe. Complete suffer fest, even though it was only 5 miles. Luckily all the fast people did the 10 miler, lmao.

What time did it take off? The 5K I ran last week took off at 8AM and was miserable.

Congrats man! I am steadfast in my stance of never running a summer race in Louisiana again. frick that shite.

Dude I hear ya! I was questioning everything, haha. Spent 95% of the race in zone 5. Insanity!

Same. 8:00. About an hour too late IMO.
