How many of y'all have actually watched JB play? There is an enormous amount of hype for a guy that I can't find much film on after high school. Can anyone provide any concrete analysis that backs up all of the positive expectations?

That's a good question.

I have not seen him play. However, I will say that after seeing him stuck in depth behind JT Barrett, and those two other guys, (sorry, don't follow tOSU) and learning under Meyer, that makes me feel good about him at the helm.

I'm not knocking anyone in particular but all our QBs looked lost in the spring game.

He seems like a smart and agile athlete. I have to give props to O for landing him.

We didn't have much about Mettenberger either, but without the worst defense in recent LSU history, that's a team that could have done something.

I think that is why there is excitement about Burrow. The best QB we've had over the past 11 years (I'm just going to cut it off at '07 with Flynn) was a guy we knew nothing about except for the talent level and coaching outside of the LSU system.

I'll be optimistic for it.

I feel the difference between Mett and Burrow is that Mett had regular starting game experience when he came in (yes I know JUCO is probably less competitive than SEC practice) and then had a season of practice with the team and the “offense”. He also had two of the greatest receivers to ever play at LSU catching his passes.

Burrow on the other hand has limited mop up duty game experience and will not even have spring practice with the team under his belt.

I hope Burrow is all the hype and more, he certainly has the talent, but leading a team in actual competitive games is very different than practice. So he is every bit the question mark our other three guys are and if he struggles early (against a tough early schedule) our fan base will be calling for his blood to be spilt.

I have. He’s a mixture of Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Michael Vick, Warren Moon, With a dash of Weebie.

He hasn’t been at LSU for the last few yrs, that puts him light years ahead of any of the current LSU qbs

Good point.
There should be a place for people to post videos and stats etc and be able to discuss the very topic you have brought up.
Maybe one day Brah

We don’t have much film on our other QB’s as well....so do this, go watch all of the QB’s Spring game highlights. You will see a glaring difference b/w him and our current QB’s. It’s all I really have to go by at this point...but it warrants excitement imo for sure.

It’s not hype, it’s hope

He's played in like 10 games.

My biggest thing is his completion perecentage. 74%. Even if he was given "easy throws" he still completed them. Something we've been missing.

He’s played in more games and attempted more passes than any QB on our roster.
What little footage there is of him is way better than any footage we have off Brennan, Narcisse or McMillan.
That should give you all the answers about hype, or excitement or hope you need.
Get on board.

Good find. And notice is HS completion perecentage, 72%.

If anything, the guy is accurate.

So where would he have played since HS I wonder???

If you watched this board there has been links to literally every down this kid has played at tOSU in real games and the three spring games.

So yes I would say I have seen him play as much as most anyone else on here. He has done well enough that many diehard Buckeyes think he should be the starter...
