Yeah, cycling teams train out there. It's way out of town, and almost no one lives out there.

And if cyclists don't train out there, they'll just have to train on Burbank.

It is illegal to run over a bicyclist, like it or not.

Training route or not, riding a bike on a two lane highway at rush hour is just not smart. As was said before, there is a damn bike path on the levee.

There is no rush hour on this part of River Road, and there is no paved bike path on this part of River Road.

Roads are not "training routes" any more than they are built for time trials in cars.

When cyclists take the attitude that all other transportation must submit to their "training" requirements, accidents happen. Whether it's pedestrians being nearly run down around the lakes or cyclists blowing through stop signs. I'm sorry this man was hurt, and we don't know what happened. Calling roads "training routes" is terrible practice. The Velodrome is for training.

I rephrase. Riding a bike on a two lane highway with no shoulders in the middle of nowhere with a posted speed limit of 55 (isn’t it 55 out there?) is not smart. Forget it, don’t ride your bike on a highway in or around BR it’s almost not even smart to drive your car on a highway in and around BR.

False. With the buildup of Springlake, Lexington, U Club, etc, RR is the fastest route downtown as Burbank and Nicholson are overrun with cheap apartment traffic. No sympathy for any jerk on a bike on that stretch of road.

Edited-path doesn’t go to Ben Hur yet.

Well that's certainly an opinion one can have.

I worked in the evenings at the casino. frick biking on River Road. Every street down here (FL, no matter how stupid) has a bike lane, RR does not. Good luck Lance wannabees.

You may use a different bike, that's beside the point. It's meant to be a training facility designed specifically for bikes, unlike roads.

I'm talking plaquemine point, not anywhere near uclub.

oads are for cars. The levee has a perfectly good paved bike path on top of it that has no cars.

Doesn't go past the equestrian fields.

It's still bright as frick out. Can we just not say people fricking suck at driving and we should make it harder to get and keep your license? You are driving around with a loaded weapon.

Also, I used to jog on that path. No way a couple dozen bikes could cruise at 30-35 mph with all the joggers/walkers on it.

That bike path is not a solution.

I’m white knuckled driving to the barn 5-6 days a week, especially on foggy mornings, because I’m terrified of the bikers. That early a lot of them don’t even have the blinky light. I love the blinky light. Some of those curves are blind.

Homicidal driving is a virtue in baton rouge.

So if a biker hit a jogger on a bike path... who is at fault?

I understand. Because I’m on that road to that point at least 5 days a week.
