It is illegal to run over a bicyclist, like it or not
No it isn't.

there is no paved bike path on this part of River Road.
Exactly the reason that it shouldn't be used for this shite. Go find somewhere else to fricking train or whatever, roads were made for vehicles not recreational activities.

Some of those curves are blind.
I know a kid that got killed on one of those curves. He was riding in a pack of about 40, 2 abreast.
The guy that killed him was doing over 50 in a 25 mph curve, and in the wrong lane.
He murdered two people. He should still be in jail.

Also, I used to jog on that path. No way a couple dozen bikes could cruise at 30-35 mph with all the joggers/walkers on it.
That bike path is not a solution.
I saw cyclist all the time on River Road, never fricking ran into one. People have flipped their car and died on River road. Guess it's not safe for drivers either.

I go the other way to avoid those curves bc of the bikes. And pray to not hit the goddamn ferry line.

So if a biker hit a jogger on a bike path... who is at fault?
The path is mixed use, so I have no idea.

People drive way too fast on that road.

I’ve got a few friends from high school that are on with RRCP. The training those guys have to go through is like Marine basic crammed into one month for everything from land nav, to BUDs, to FL training, but with weekends off.
Drivers on River Road are like white walkers. Be happy the RRCP is on that wall from 10PM-5:59AM.

Bikes have legal use of the roads. I don't understand this. They have every right to the road as anyone else. Actually more, because recreation vehicles are usually not street legal.

Aspy, I almost killed myself avoiding an opossum one night.
I came up Government to the levee. Drove way too fast. When I got off of work, pitch black, Loved the curves.

You can hit the possum. It's the armadillos you really want to avoid.

Or the fricking deer. I’ve had a few close calls

When I was in high school, a friend that lived on the point swore they had a 12 point.
I never believed him.

A friend and co-worker of mine had retired in his late 60s and started cycling. He and his wife were vacationing in Gulf Shores and were on the bike path by the state park one morning. A sleepy driver that had been working two shifts drifted and hit them both, killing him. Very sad indeed.

Pops died on one of those curves on his bike.

Roads are meant for vehicles that can go the speed limit of said roads, go take your hippie shite somewhere else.
