"It was very confusing to have them bring up the library tax since the library is a parish-wide tax and it would be unchanged if St. George were to happen. It is always disappointing that they still have not made any movement in their budget to allow for a school system, which they say is their main goal," said M.E. Cormier, the Executive Director of Better Together Campaign.

Let the second battle of St. George begin!

Soros money at work. They don’t want to lose the taxpayers that are funding all the social programs and CATS that the societal leeches in Baton Ruudge rely on.

If St. George fails again, welcome to come to Houston suburbs and enjoy no state income tax, amazing schools, 1/2 price car insurance, cheaper house insurance.

The 10K you would save by not having to send your child to private school, can be used on a great vacation.

He doesn't have a fricking choice. His duties are spelled out in the law. He's trying to get head of the curve on how to handle challenges and frick over the organizers (again). I suspect they will come in with thousands more signatures than they need.

Why should they, since everyone (including your worthless organization) is constantly screaming that a new city is no guarantee of a new school system?

He acts like the school system and municipality will be the same thing. They are very distinct.

This is the same worthless B that is adamant about a new city not being guaranteed a school district. I know you'll all find this hard to believe but she's also the HOA president for Woodland Ridge. She looks exactly like you'd think she looks being someone who is actually fighting other citizens attempting to prevent them from voting on the future of their own property.

It’s not your property. It’s the governments. You are just renting it. At least that’s their opinion.

Agreed again. If there was some promise that there would be a school district for St. George within the next 5-10 years, I'd be on board.

They cannot make that promise, and if they did, the opponents would (rightly) call them on it.

I agree. They also highlighted the Council on Aging tax, which is a parish-wide tax. Creating another municipality within the parish will not absolve the residents of the issues facing East Baton Rouge Parish as a whole. It's disingenuous to imply otherwise.

They can (and should) use these as examples of the shitty leadership from the Mayor and MC, some of which would be removed with a new City. And, let's turn this around...this shoots holes in the screaming from the opponents that St.G would "cost" the Parish millions.

BR Mayor and City Council and majority of citizens:

All white people and all rich people suck and are the cause of all of our problems.

White people and well off minorities: OK. We'll leave then and live somewhere else.

BR: no no no. You can't leave we need you and can't live without you.

There is no doubt, if St.George does come into existence, that People of Color, who do have $, or can afford to live there and want better schools will bolt for it,as fast as the White people not in St.George.

They want exactly what St.George is offering, but scared to rock the boat while still living within or near the shitheads. They are the quiet supporters.

Currently the two cent sales taxes folks in unincorporated EBR pays goes to the parish general fund where it's used by the Mayor and CP Council. There is no way to tell if we are getting services equal to the taxes we pay.

We see other taxes that are collected parish wide and we question as to how those monies are spent.

IMHO, the system isn't geared to addressing our needs as a parish.
We need money for roads, drainage, etc. but we don't have it. On the other hand BREC, the COA and the Library Control Board have more than they need. Our system lacks flexibility.

And we all see these folks who get grants from local govt. to drive people around, set up basketball games, and infusers who buy unused property for ten cents on the dollar. It's all there to see.

The less money we send Downtown and the more we keep out here where we can watch it, the better off we will be.
