A group of veterans from the Vietnam War who recently met for a reunion in Florida are searching for one of their comrades who they only knew by a nickname.
'Louisiana' is seen in photos with curly brown hair and a goofy face and his friends from the war remember the warm personality he had during the dark times.
'The picture represents the beautiful grin he had almost all the time,' said veteran James Garvin - who took the photo - to WBRZ.
According to a Facebook post from wife Susan Waldrop Garvin, 'Louisiana' was a grunt on the ground, part of the Army infantry.
The photo is said to have been taken between August 1970 and February 1971.
'He had dark curly hair and wore a necklace along with his dog tags. He would have been around 18-20 yrs old in 1970,' the post reads.

I've never seen a better and non-offensive blackface.

I don't understand whose wife is this?
Also, can they not go into some sort of records to look up their battalion to get a list of names? Certainly they could work it from there somehow?

So he should be between the ages of 65-69 years old. Good chance he is deceased.
The cancer finally took my uncle last year. He did two tours.

So according to someone who told her, because she wouldn’t fricking know. Why even put this in there?

My brother was part of the 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam and most of the guys he served with are gone.

It really is a shame he didn't get an oscar for that performance. But, Heath Ledger as the Joker was amazing. In a lot of other years I think RDJ would have won.

No it isn't. Memories fade after 50 years, 1 year tours overlapped, people changed positions and nicknames were often acquired and used. The group that got together might not have been the closest to him but remembered him by his nickname. Lots of people they probably don't recall at all.

Anyone from La., was called “cajun” after numerous times describing what a Cajun is, and telling them I was not a Cajun i simply just accepted being called a Cajun.
We were called mostly by our last name, many times a nickname.
approximately 3 million of us served “in Country or boots on the ground “ and only about a third are alive.
hopefully he is alive, the V V A has a newspaper where you can find friends
