Visiting Europe and noticing little differences between Europe and the US

I went for 10 days and visited Switzerland, Germany, France, and The Netherlands.
I'm going to start off with a huge shocker. They're not fat compared to us. Really, for the most part, they're not fat at all. I know, shocking right?
And these people eat tons of ice cream, cheese, bread, beer, french fries served with mayonnaise on it. There are ice cream shops everywhere and they were all busy! They have MacDonalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut, KFC etc...
They smoke a lot. Europe in Germany/France/Switz is not on the non-smoking bandwagon. Ashtrays at every restaurant we went to. It was crazy how much they smoke.
By what they consume and smoke they are thinner than we are but do not seem to live a healthier lifestyle.
Yes a lot of them commute by bike and walk a lot but give me a fricking break. Their 110 calories extra they burn is not enough. It's something else.
Most everyone speaks 4 languages fluently. Switzerland, for example, speaks German, French, Italian and Romanish. That's their native languages except almost everyone speaks English. So the majority of the population speaks fluently at least 5 languages. That is impressive.
In the touristy, city areas, Switzerland mostly, little to no bums begging for money. No homeless people hassling you with their dogs. Unlike here where there are panhandlers everywhere.
Soccer is obviously king but they don't really appear to play anything else except a little tennis. It is soccer and only soccer.
Oh and they are not diverse. Lots of white people around. Kind of like South Dakota. But remember kids, we're racist...

If they stopped smoking they'd get fat

They drown 'em in it.

The average European is more refined and much healthier than the average American.
They do a few things right over there.

America is still better.

We are fat because of our bread
Both Europeans and Americans like bread
Our bread is pumped with frickin sugar

We Americans are just a bunch of savages.

We also eat larger portions and more processed food

They move around more. They walk more. They also work less. Cortisol is a stress hormone that cause weight gain. They tend to be less stressed due to working less and moving around, walking, etc more.
So they aren't nearly as fat.

The French may have invented fries, but we took them to a whole level. Same with pizza, sushi, and what else am I missing?

Yeah but the MUSLIMS.

Processed food in general is the main culprit
People would be surprised how much sugar is in those things
Americans are scared of “fat”, and eat sugar by the bowl full

Sugar lobby did well blaming everything on fat.

They don't tend to do the once-a-week grocery shopping that we do and which encourages processed food. They're more likely to pick up fresh ingredients daily on the way home from work. Also why small dorm-sized refrigerators are so common.

They may have bread and cheese but I think you underestimate how much the average landwhale in this country eats.... gallons of soda, fast food, and snackz, lots and lots of SNACKZ
