The Dallas Mavericks are expected to sign Jalen Jones and waive Terry Larrier.
Larrier has suffered a significant knee injury. Larrier's training camp guarantee will be paid and he will rehab in Dallas with the Mavericks and Legends.

Thank God you're not the GM. We haven't remained timid at all this offseason
A lot of times the best trades are the ones you don't make
How would you define timid? We replaced Rondo with someone the Suns released (even though they need a PG). We replaced Boogie with someone the Lakers released (even though they need a big). I think both moves will work out; don't act like we have been aggressive. We accomplished nothing in the draft, we haven't made any trades, lost Rondo and Boogie, but I'm wrong in classifying that as timid? There are three ways in improving a team (draft, trade, sign) and we have whiffed on two of them.

We should bank our future on Dallas or Milwaukee underachieving, and trading us their 2nd best player at the deadline.
Or Portland, or Denver, or Washington, or Toronto, or Memphis or Miami.
I think we can get guys from Atlanta/Orlando/Charlotte and maybe the Clippers pretty easily at the deadline.
It's not being timid, it's being patient, and smart. No need to take back players with long contracts if they aren't going to make us much better.

What if we take a step back, without Rondo and Boogie?
If AD is a top 5 player in this league, and Jrue continues his form, there is no stepping back. There is nothing to indicate, based on our play post Cousins injury, to say we would take a step back. After losing the first 5 of 6 after the injury, we went 20-8, then swept the first round and beat the Warriors more times than Lebron did. Yeah we lost Rondo from that post Cousins team, but we added a similar on court talent as well as Julius Randle. We got better talent wise.
There is zero reason we would take a step back, barring major injury.

I guess if you have a flimsy argument, you change what the other person says. I never suggested taking on anything long-term, only 2 year contracts. This off-season, we replaced valuable defectors. We haven't addressed our number one deficiency (SF) at all. I want the best possible record this year, as AD can sign an extension after this season. Contracts that expire after next season won't hurt much, whether they contribute on court or in trade.
You named a bunch of teams that will be fighting for playoff spots, except Memphis, who has nothing we need. You mentioned Orlando and the Clippers as trade candidates. Wouldn't you prefer having Jonathon Simmons or Gallinari/Beverly for a whole season?
With the trade chips we're working with, how can you be confident of a major deal at the deadline when every teams trading chips will be on the table? Most teams rosters are basically set, so there isn't as much competition on the market now. If we pull off a sign-and-trade for Rodney Hood, I would consider the off-season a success. We need to add, not simply replace what we lost.

So really you want to spend a 1st on Hood or Bazemore and the off-season is a failure unless that happens.

Who the fukk said anything about sending out a 1st? Especially for Bazemore. Why would we give up a 1st for Hood , when there doesn't seem to be much interest in him. If he was worth a 1st, he would be signed by now. Yall like putting words in peoples mouths, that's annoying as fukk.

Why does it have to be addressed now. Be patient. There are no game changers available for us right now, and we want a game changer.

There is a 0.0000001% chance AD doesn’t sign the extension. Quit worrying about that. He isn’t an idiot like kawhi giving up millions.

Every trade you can do today for those mid level guys can be done then for cheaper. Why do it now and not have a chance for a better player at the deadline?
And if love to get Beverly, and even Gallinari’s ialways injured arse. But if it cost a first today, it might cost a two seconds at the deadline.

We will. Be patient. We have a playoff team right now. We, well I, want a top 3 team. Jonathon Simmons doesn’t make us that. Jimmy butler does.

Is Chalmers better than Norris Cole?
I always saw these two as the same type of player in Miami.

I don't know what Chalmers has left in the tank, he hasn't been the same since his injury. Norris Cole is a fair comparison.... I prefer signing Brandon Jennings over Chalmers.

If I had to handicap the West that top 8 seems about right, especially considering the SoS. I don't necessarily agree with the order and don't get why Denver is being so highly regarded, but those 8 seem to have the best shot at making it. I'm also assuming the Lakers make an in season trade to turn some of the youngsters and dead weight into more useful vets.

according to goldstein, its due to relative youth& health/expectation of internal development over a baseline of 46 wins last year

Why do so many assume Denver will win 50 games and be better than the Pels?
Posted on 8/16/18 at 1:59 pm to TigerinATL
IMO, Denver is too high and Portland is too low.

Healthier than we have been in a long time.
Plus Jrue has morphed into Evil Jrue. Davis seemed to elevate at the end of the year. Mirotic shaved his face and became awesome. Randle fell in our lap.
This team is definitely stronger than last year when you consider it is deeper and that we never had a healthy Cousins, Davis, Evil Jrue, and beardless Mirotic.

It’s a hard business. Several years ago I posted quotes and links to articles. Now most of the quotes that start discussion are from tweets rather than articles.

I don't understand how the T-P is still in business.
Sucks for Guillory. I liked him a lot.
