I don't think people really think it's fun. Maybe actually creating a garden, or building some outdoor area, but I don't see anyone thinking mindless yardwork like mowing the grass, raking leaves, etc being actually fun...except Forrest Gump.
I think it's a product of the 9-5 work life. They work so much, something as simple as going outside in the yard is considered fun.

Man I miss my house just for the yard work sometimes. Nothing like driving home past light green yards with weeds popping up and pulling into your driveway in between a dark green, weedless lawn. Pulls the whole thing together.
Few things are better than a cold beer on the porch around 11 AM while you're dirtied up and can smell that fresh cut grass.

I actually enjoy riding my mower and thinking of nothing while mowing the grass. The edging and weedeating is a bit more strenuous but nevertheless, after it is complete, it is satisfying.

When I have the time, I enjoy doing yard work. As long as I am not rushed because I have something else to do. Weather like today, cold beer, radio goin in the garage, now that's a good day doing some yard work. Finish off with firing up the grill and a few more beers. Looking out over the freshly cut, edged, weed eated yard with a cold beer and meat on the grill is a good feeling.
Stay inside playing your video games while the men hang outside doing men stuff
you can always do the dishes

It's the only thing in my life that I can start and finish in an hour, see my progress along the way, and the feeling of accomplishment at the end.

yard work is fun. Relaxing.. festivals are terrible, tons of people, standing and breathing around you. And what is a zurich?

Pro golf tournament in New Orleans. It's one of the toughest courses because you have to dodge the bullets and the sand traps.

Several things. It's part of my weekly retinue. I'm a father of two young children, so it's one of the few times over the weekend when I have some time to myself. I have about four acres to mow, so I pick out a podcast each week and try to listen and learn something, while at the same time making my property look amazing. I don't know anyone that thinks it's "fun", but it's most definitely something you can get enjoyment from.

I enjoy working outside. Monday through Friday I work inside an office. So weekend yard work is welcomed.
