Southwest and their fake 1st class and "priority" boarding system sucks.
Delta will always own them.

We don't know one way or the other if the airline is at fault. But, you know, someone *may* be at fault. Res ipsa loquitur mileage may vary. I don't understand the jump to say no one is at fault any more than I don't understand why p's (other than survivors of the decedent) think they will get 7 figures.
I do hope that if I am ever negligent than I draw some of you "pittance $x should be enough" on the other side.

An engine blew off on an airplane that has flown how many times? Sounds freak enough to me. Now if they had failed an inspection and still flew sure but something like this no one can predict

Don't you have to show some sort of negligence?
I mean, flying is a generally safe but certainly not perfect science.

Doing something right 100,000,000 times doesn't mean it was done right time 100,000,001. We don't know.
Success and a lack of a problem can lead complacency and lax inspections. Was anyone complacent? We don't know.

Sorry don't think an accident is worth suing over

If you sue, there should be a clause inthere saying if you ever fly again you have to forfeit all moneu won. If you are tramatized from being in a car wreck and win money based on that, you shouldnt drive ever again either. I would hate to see someone suffer from ptsd by driving to the grocery store.
You are an idiot.

Know how I know you’v never been fricked up in an accident?
Posted on 4/20/18 at 10:07 pm to OTIS2
I've been in plenty of car accidents and maybe I'm lucky but insurance has taken care of my expenses. I also knew they were accidents and didn't sue for anything else as long as the insurance took care of me. Sorry I don't believe in shining just to sue

Key word... almost.
If I T bone the car in front of you because of negligent driving, and that driver is paralyzed from the waist down, should you be able to sue me because you saw her get paralyzed?
I get it, Southwest is trying to save face, and in this day and age it is likely warranted. If they don’t do this, all the SJW and FB moms post everywhere about how much this affects their every day and they won’t ever fly SW again. It is a good move by SW but not one that should be expected.

you are lucky
There's plenty of abuse with car wreck settlements, it's also true that in many cases it is in the insurance company's best interest to frick you.

The FAA literally doesn't allow them to cut corners. Aircraft maintenance and inspections are very strict.
You ought to read up on the jackscrew inspections for the aircraft in Alaska Air 261 crash.

You need to call the NTSB, you can help them out since they don't know any of this, and probably wont determine a root cause for a couple of years.
Somebody from the NTSB said on the day after the incident that a fan blade was missing on the left engine. That probably seems like a good starting point.

doubt there will be any successful suits from those that lived, already a precedent from UAL 232 survivors, they sued because they "felt the fear of possibly dying," and thankfully, lost
First of all, Al Haynes was the fricking man. He was Sully 20 years before the real Sully and didn't get a Tom Hanks movie made about him.
But didn't the fuselage break into three pieces, sling people all over a cornfield and burn? I think over half of the passengers were killed, so it seems reasonable to believe that the survivors really did think they were going to die.

They still need to figure out why it came off. The FFA has ordered that within the next 21 days all the fan blades on this type of engine be ultrasonically inspected for cracks if the engine usage has exceeded a certain number of "cycles" which usually means a takeoff and landing. The engines were made in a joint venture between GE and a French company, and there are a little over 600 in use world wide.

IMO, SWA is going to get hammered.
Reports are coming out that SWA has been cited by the FAA recently for poor maintenance / inspection practices and even questions about being airworthy.
I think this is going to be a big one.
I also think the FAA is going to catch hell for not grounding SWA. They were too lax.
