Home Depot for tools. Especially power tools.

Typically Lowe's for the home improvement supplies

Lowe’s markets towards women decision makers.

Home Depot markets towards men and contractors.

Stine. If they don't have it, Lowe's is closer than Home Depot.

Sadly there isn’t a family hardware store in my town now. When I still lived in Athens we shopped there all the time. It was ridiculous pricing. I paid $20 for a toilet plunger one time. I should be able to write that off as charity on my taxes.

I thought they all went to Fresh Market, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods?

Lowe’s has a better selection of outdoor stuff like pavers and mulch. But Home Depot has a money back guarantee on the plants they sell you.

Lowe's has a 1 year money back guarantee on plants

Lowes does as well. Lowes is my choice for just about everything. I despise the Covington HD. Employees there run away if they feel you’re going to ask them a question.

I prefer Home Depot, but I have to drive across the interstate to get there so usually just go to Lowe’s due to convenience.

Ace Hardware. You pay a little more but someone is greeting you at the door and knows exactly where the item you are looking for is located. Much better service than either Lowes or HD.

Home Depot for lumber.

They have the wettest lumber of the two. Give me Lowes for wood products.
