how each level is attained, nor what advantages there are to advancing.
Simple answer: pay your yearly dues, learn about, believe in, and practice each of those “mission” statements, participate in the corresponding degree ceremony.
Advantages of advancement: it’s hard to answer this because you’re not going to materially gain an advantage, that’s not what it’s all about. God will probably like you more, though.

Well yea. It would defeat the purpose of being a secret.
Ok, so what's the purpose of having it be a secret? What does the organization accomplish by maintaining this as a secret?
Is this an organization that markets its identity as a cult? If not, why the secrecy?

That sounds like its about "status" relative to the status of other members. Is that what God wants?

Here’s the conclusion I’ve reached:
The Catholic Church got mad at the Freemasons. The masons refused to apologize. The Church said “Fine! I’ll go home and make my own Masons!”.
I’m not in either, but I know people in both, and from what they tell me I’m pretty sure they both do the same stuff.

No, I'm not 70 years old.
Pretty sure they just told you that was a requirement so they would all be dead before you tried to join again.

3rd Degree here.
Fr. Michael McGivney start the Knights in 1882. One of the reasons he founded it was to start a fraternal organization for Irish immigrants that would help to take care for the widows and orphans of deceased members. Back then the Irish were treated like crap. The Life insurance program is a part of that mission.

What’s the deal with this insurance people are mentioning?

That's a pretty dumb conclusion. It started to provide life insurance for blue collar workers so their families could survive if the man died.
The purpose of secrecy is because the things that knights do is supposed to be known by those who willingly participate.

Sounds like fun. Do you have to be Catholic to join?

They also branched out into selling Avon products and advocare.
My local chapter is looking into essential oils for 2019 and beyond.

I’m getting inducted next month. Seem like a good group of guys. I’m only 27 fwiw. They are looking for younger members.

I went through the secret initiation as a favor to a friend. I totally lost it being blindfolded and having to hold hands with the others. I about killed myself trying to unsuccessfully refrain from laughing. I was shaking trying to hold it in. Never did follow up after that with any more KC stuff. I'm not a good team member.

Won’t the CC kick you out if they find out you’re a Mason?
It is possible, but I doubt I would be exiled from either. The CC is just happy to have patrons, and the FM only care if you believe in a "supreme being"

I think you mean the purpose is to keep information away from people that are not willingly participating.
But public service is not a competition. So what’s the problem with just being 100% transparent? If I’m going to join an organization, I want to know more about it. I don’t want to feel like I’m being invited to an Amway meeting or a Timeshare sales meeting. Those are profit making entities so I understand the need for sneaky, secretive strategies to lure people in it. Shouldn’t a charity organization be managed more openly?

Inducted? I see someone else is also using that term.
Am I understanding the use of that term correctly to mean that there is some kind of induction ceremony? Prayers, costumes, scripted readings? That kind of stuff?
Or is it just a social hour where the new guys stand up, introduce themselves, and then receive a polite round of applause with a few backslaps and handshakes to follow?
