Cracked article
Yeah, yeah, Cracked. And this is clearly a pro-gun control article. Still an interesting historical perspective on the NRA.
Whatever your perspective on guns and the 2nd amendment, you should read this article to at least be aware of arguments you might hear.

When the NRA was founded in 1871, its primary purpose was to teach "urban northerners" how to use guns as well as their Southern counterparts could, figuring that this disparity lengthened the Civil War by several years. The organization taught basic marksmanship and firearm maintenance, funded the construction of shooting ranges, partnered with the War Department to host tournaments, and sparked the interest of a thoroughly traumatized nation in need of some semblance of security.

Well yeah, the NRA's goal changed once the leftists made it a goal to gut the Second Amendment and end private ownership of guns. It would be foolish not to recognize that, and I don't like the NRA.

I would donate to the NRA if it didn't waste so much money. They want to send coffee mugs and bags and stuff like that. Waste. I aint doin' it.

We have the right to free speech, but not to libel. We have the right to religious freedom, but our religious practices can't violate state laws. We have the right to bear arms, but ... nothing. Doesn't that seem a little weird?
We have the right to bear arms, but we do not have the right to use them to murder other people.
I'm not sure why the author is being dishonest here.

You don’t have to take those items so they can save money.
You can also donate to Gun Owners of America.

Cracked went to shite when they stopped focusing on funny articles and went full SJW. No thanks.

Other than David Wong, Cracked is a cancer on the internet.

Yeah, they clearly both went strong to the left AND down in quality.
As the poster above said, Wong is alright, but that's it.
Still, you get what you play for and there is some good stuff there in-between the garbage.

That may be the MOST misinformed, ignorant, dishonest, and misleading article I have ever read on the NRA, gun violence, and gun control. The writer is a complete moron, or intentionally lying.

They used to be a fantastic organization focused on gun safety and education. They sadly turned into a propaganda machine focused on lining the pockets' of gun manufacturers.
Sad.
Sad.

Funny how that “article” leaves out the gun control law explosion in the late 60s.
But it’s good bait for the ignorant.
