The starting unit and the way Gentry worked the rotation was pretty sweet, I gotta admit.

I would also like to acknowledge that this is the first time where I started the thread and the Pels won. Previously winless before tonight

What do we do with Emeka? His 10 day contract runs out tomorrow I believe. Do we wait till after the break to sign him to another?

Yeah it's a weird spot to be in with him. You'd like to sign him to another 10 day before deciding if you sign him for the rest of the year but you're about to hit the break. I guess you tell him to sit tight through the break and you'll resign him after.

Pistons are gonna have to change those upper seats from red. That attendance made the NOrena look packed.

The Pels have lost too many tie breaker games. If they make the playoffs it will be because they get their shite together, not because other teams fall apart.

@OlehKosel Cheick Diallo has been awesome in February through 6 games, averaging 6.8 points and 6.5 rebounds. If you translate his numbers to per 36 minute data, it REALLY stands out:

16.0 PPG
15.2 REB
2.0 BLK
50.0 FG%
100.0 FT%
AND how about only 2.0 personal fouls a contest!?!

Not bad, kid.

fricking Gentry...

I don't even want to compare the Per36 because I know he cannot even get there. But 15.3 minutes and he's averaging 6.8 points and 6.5 rebounds. Give him 22 minutes, likelihood is that he'd reach 8/8.

Its sickening to think what if we gave him 15 minutes a game WITH boogie available. AD and Cousins both go from 36->34 MPG, Cunningham goes from 22->18 MPG. That's already 6 minutes a night that you could have fed him to develop. The other 9 can come from not needing to run these 3 guard sets...

Okafor is playing adequately and he’s really not doing much more than Asik would. Gentry had answers on the bench, he just didn’t like them.

sheesh. only Pels talk can take a post about a young player's growth and turn it into a "blame the coach" rant

perhaps. also, what about fouls and blown assignments?

maybe Diallo could have done that and they blew it. also, maybe he wasn't ready to do that 2 months ago.

you know, he just might be playing better b/c of, not in spite of, the work he and the staff have done this season.

Because this isn't something new. We have been saying this for months. It's literally something Wesley and Myers have saying. You can't develop guys if they don't play. A desperate coach resorts to 8 player lineups in the regular season.

It's going to happen. Hell even 15 minutes I'm sure there's a ton, but it's something every coach who develop players live with. That's part of the game.

It's not like they were sooooo phenomenal defensively otherwise. We had a ton of blown assignments.

Learning vs doing. There's a balance between both, gentry totally ignored development on the court for more veterans presence with lower ceilings. It's been that way since day 1

In Gentry's defense, despite regular playing time it still took Buddy until the end of January before it looked like he was turning the corner to becoming a useful player. Cheick playing minutes in December wouldn't guarantee he'd have been a positive by early January, but it probably would have guaranteed a few more losses as bad as he looked early.

I think the not playing Asik 5-10 MPG when AD/DC were desperate for rest was the more questionable coaching call.

Tonight’s slate of games could shrink that too:
Rockets - Wolves
Thunder - Cavs
Spurs - Nuggets

oh. well, in that case....

like i said already, maybe the staff did indeed blow it by not letting Diallo play more earlier. entirely possible.

what is funny is that you cannot fathom the possibility that Diallo/staff worked together to get him to this spot. no one was blaming the coaches 2 months ago for not playing Diallo when he looked like hot garbage. now that he has had a solid 80 minute run over 6 games (!!!), it's what the frick have the coaches been doing.
