Okafor is playing adequately and he’s really not doing much more than Asik would. G

i would disagree on the Asik comp. maybe they get the same numbers, but how it happens matters.

Okafor, at the moment, is quicker and a better jumper. his offensive game isn't particularly good, but he showed some post moves and he has a decent short range jumper for a backup 5. Asik brings none of that to the table.

eta- also we really have no clue about Asik's injury/conditioning. the dude almost died. takes a while to get back into game shape, even for 10 minutes

The comparison to Asik was more about he's someone I can live with for 10 MPG. He does bring more to the table than Asik, and with this team's money problems I wouldn't be shocked if Okafor is back next year. Honestly he's looked good for 35. Embid scored on Okafor but he did everything he was supposed to do and just got beat by a superior player that everyone has trouble defending. He played well against Detroit and Drummond with 8/7/1 in 13 minutes. If you can hang with those 2 you can be AD's stunt double until Cousins comes back.

what is funny is that you cannot fathom the possibility that Diallo/staff worked together to get him to this spot. no one was blaming the coaches 2 months ago for not playing Diallo when he looked like hot garbage.

He still looks lost and out of control frequently. I don’t have any criticism for coaches not playing him. He is so raw. Hell he undercut Mirotic last night on a rebound with no opponents around and put a hard elbow into Miller’s face on another.

diallo just looks so uncoordinated, almost awkwardly so. He's not very smooth from an athleticism standpoint so I wonder what raw materials he has that might indicate he can take a big step up

I mean he's young so he is active, but that's about it

I don't think he needs to take a big step up. Ideally you'd like him to be a 25 MPG fringe starter material like Faried, but with the bigs the Pels have, if he's just a Richaun Holmes 15 MPG energy big that's good enough.

His midrange jumper looks decent and he's a 75% FT shooter. In an admittedly small sample size against mostly backups he looks like a very good rebounder. Career per 36 rebound rate of 12.8 and a Reb% of 19.2. There's definitely something useful buried under the spazz.

His biggest problem is he still doesn't seem to know the system. He looks awkward because he's the only idiot running to the basket with his hand up on every play He'll eventually learn the system and stop looking like some playground joker.
