Truck traffic should be required to take loops, where they are available.

Baton Rouge should introduce the resolution today.

This is going to evolve into the first driverless track of road.

Anyone buying land for human activity is going to lose bigly.

Build a new bridge in Plaquemine and connect it to Hwy 30. Upgrade Hwy 30 where necessary. That's all Baton Rouge needs to do.

There is no way to dismiss the boondoggle that is the new New Orleans airport terminal.

It will be bright and shiny when it opens maybe but that is about it.

I will wager whatever you wish to wager Mr. waiting4saturday that spending by the airport authority at the airport does not go down when this new terminal opens.

Boondoggle? The only boondoggle in regards to this is the fact they didn’t anticipate future capacity well enough and had to start phase 2 (the 5 gate addition) during construction and the fact the state won’t even start on the interstate flyover Ramps until wwl after the terminal is open (not even in the scope of the project).

For how corrupt Nola and this state is it’s been astonishing how smooth this project has gone. Probably due to the fact that the airlines have a big say so in regards to change orders and oversight.

This terminal will ensure the cost per Enplanement that the airlines pay (thus passengers pay) remains low.

Landrieu will have spent over $1 billion on the new, unneeded airport terminal giving taxpayers no clear benefit.

The airport does not cost taxpayers $1 billion. The bonds are paid back mostly by the airliners. The road in GA is financed completely differently.

Are you saying that airlines actually guaranteed the bond payments of the boondoggle terminal?

I call BS on that.

I have advocated for some time a toll road (the Zachary Taylor Tollway) running just north of Baton Rouge stretching from I-59 in Bogalusa to Vinton crossing the river in St. Francisville. We could then build toll roads on both sides of the river connecting 1-10 to the Taylor toll road making a square around the city.

It would be a HUGE relief to the i-10-12 corridor. Of course some people cannot see the very obvious benefit and would favor spending millions on a study to see it would be feasible.

Another alternative that I think would work would be a toll road between I-10 in Vinton crossing the state to Monroe and I-20. This too would take a lot of truck traffic off of I-10. All you need to see this is to look at a map and observe the traffic. Truck traffic falls off tremendously east of I-65 in Mobile. There are a lot of goods traveling between Tx/Mexico and the Midwest/Northeast. A road running to Monroe from the Southwest corner of the state would save a lot of miles and take a lot of traffic off of I-10.

Great ideas! If either happened, the reduction of I-10 trucks (and cars) would quite possibly be enough to make the long-desired bridge south of Baton Rouge unnecessary.

1. Over 60% of the through traffic east-west in EBR uses I-12. Less than 40% uses I-10 SE of EBR.

2. What needs to be built is a northern bypass in EBRP that connects to I-12 in mid-Livingston Parish.

Around Atlanta, semis are required to take the loops and bypass the city. If you are stopped inside the loop, you better have BOLs that show you are delivering or picking up inside the loop, or you get a ticket.

Probably going to get a stupid, unneeded, unwanted light rail line, too.

I mean, they can get some corruption money out of a truck only road - someone has to get the job to build it, someone has to profit from their worthless land getting expropriated and there is a lot of bribery they can get for the truck stops along the way.

But, "light rail" is one of the proggie virtue signaling issues, so that's what they're probably going to get approved before JBE's term is up.

The airlines did not guarantee the funding of the airport terminal. The gate fees charged to these airlines will be passed on to taxpayers in ticket cost AND the airport authority is a subdivision of the State of Louisiana and as such taxpayers will ultimately be on the hook should they default. The state and feds--both using tax payer money--also chimed in on the construction of the Landrieu Boondoggle.
