I don’t know about “vast majority” but point taken. I also dont doubt they responded poorly. When situations like this happen and make headlines you can almost expect administrations to overreact.

again, the response is to either neuter the difference or to explain the difference. that data isn't really in question (until you get to the people who try to argue that IQ doesn't exist/mean anything, which creates another insane discussion)

Here’s what Dick and I said: There is a mean difference in black and white scores on mental tests, historically about one standard deviation in magnitude on IQ tests (IQ tests are normed so that the mean is 100 points and the standard deviation is 15). This difference is not the result of test bias, but reflects differences in cognitive functioning. The predictive validity of IQ scores for educational and socioeconomic outcomes is about the same for blacks and whites.

I read TBC and I wouldn't call it a 'central thesis' since it's only one chapter in an 850 page book. But the chapter is very clear on the issue and the footnotes site lots of other studies that prove that the numbers are consistent. Jews, Asians, Whites, Hispanic and Blacks come in clear descending order.
To deny the genetics and racial component of intelligence 'Afghan Hounds are just as smart as Border Collies because they're both dogs.'
Edit: By 'one chapter' I mean 'race.' The entire book is about the genetics of IQ.

How much of these differences between races can be attributed to nurture instead of nature? I’m not making a claim either way since I’m not knowledgeable of the matter.
From a young age, my parents emphasized scholarship. My mother read to me, my dad helped with math homework and concepts, and both parents worked like hell to put me in the best schools. I’ve never taken a real IQ test, but I’m confident it’s at least average.
Whites and Asians culturally place a larger emphasis on intellectual nurturing, as opposed to black families (or what remains of them). I fully believe that most black kids are not getting the “nuturing” aspect of intellectual development.
Could this be enough to explain the discrepancy in IQ scores? On the otherhand, could similar arguments be made about why the NBA and NFL are overwhelmingly black?

All good questions.
Maybe..........call me nuts......questions that call for further and more intense study. And not just by people who are agenda driven to gain one result or the other. But even agenda driven would be superior to "no, we can't look at that........to do so is racist" kind of shite.
