quote:

“He’s going to be known as one of the best offensive line coaches in football if he stays in college that long,” Barskdale said on “After Further Review with Matt Moscona.”

“He’s got the whole package – the film study, he understands theory, he understands technique, he knows how to tailor technique to different players’ strengths and weaknesses. He has multiple ways to solve problems as opposed to one way to do everything. He adapts and he is always cool under pressure. I’m not gonna lie – we’re gonna miss him (with the Chargers.”

quote:

“Yeah, he can recruit,” Barksdale said, laughing. “You think Ed brought him in if he couldn’t? If you’re an offensive line coach, you got to be able to recruit. You’re not coaching the sexiest position. You’ve got to bring something else to the table.”

lol and you got all up in my shite for wanting Grimes replaced.

Cregg is a very good hire. May be looking back and using the word excellent in the future, but that is TBD.

Grimes was good, but not good enough for what we needed. Period.

Cregg is more of a complete package, for lack of a better term. And his strength is where Grimes was weakest in my opinion.

He is adept at noting weaknesses in a OL (as a squad) and quickly either coaching the weakness out of the player and/or compensating. Grimes just wasn't fast enough. The first 4-5 games his OLs were always still finding their groove/gel/mix.

In college, for better or worse, by the start of fall camp you better have 7 OL pretty much lined up, communicating, and gelled (your depth has to function like a starter or the squad falls apart, at times). Then in fall camp you can pick apart the individuals and make adjustments.

Not hating on the hire, but if he was that good, he’d still be in the nfl

If he is so great, why was he an ASSISTANT OL coach and not a full-fledged one?

Yeah he definitely looks like a good hire.

Joe Barksdale wouldn’t trash him regardless but his resume is solid.

The O Line should be really good next year

Some combinations of Charles Traore Brum Cush Ingram Magee and Lewis will work out.

Should be damn good

Come on Ree. When are you going to realize that coach/player speak doesn’t mean shite??

What would you expect a player to say about his former coach that is now at his Alma mater?

I see myself as a call it as it is on each situation LSU fan, I believe this hire will be the biggest positive off-season move. This was a home run hire and with this class coming in paired with what we already have the O Line will be the best it's been in years. The O line is the most important group on the team because they dictate TOP, not to mention the stats this guy has as far as giving up sacks everywhere he's been, pass pro will be key next year.....This coach and the O Line are the only things I feel will be head and shoulders above what they've been the past 15 years.... I don't see how anyone could NOT be excited about the O line next year
