Is UGA primed to be Bama's equal going forward?

Obviously a very competitive national championship game where they started a true freshman QB.
The recruiting class they pulled in for 2018 is sick. They pulled in 13 of the top 75 recruits in the ESPN 300 including 3 offensive lineman (a necessity to compete with Alabama)
I thought about posing the question are they primed to unseat Alabama but we know that Alabama isn't going anywhere but they may have an equal in conference in the future. I think we're about to witness some legendary SEC championship games between these 2 powerhouse programs.
Right now it looks like Alabama, Georgia, Clemson and everyone else.

It's pretty apparent. Right now Georgia is head and shoulders above everyone in the East. Both Alabama and Georgia are in great shape at the QB position for the new two years as well.

UGA is in prime position just by locking up their state. Kirby's done something that Richt couldnt do, and that's keeping most of the in-state kids at home.
you think 2018 was sick? they already have 3 5 stars committed for 2019, so the talent train isn't ending any time soon.
they are in prime, extremely prime position to rule the east for a while, at the very least.

Ummm...OSU? Call me crazy but I don't see Kirby being as successful as Saban, regardless of these top classes. I also think UF and UT will improve, so it'll be much harder than it was this year.

I'd give UGA the advantage over Bama. They have an easier path to Atlanta coming through the East...unless Dan Mullen turns Florida around quickly. Plus you have to start wondering how many more years does Saban have left before he decides to retire.

I don't think anyone will replicate the success that he has had at Alabama since he has been there. But I do think that UGA will trade blows with them and every game they play will be a tossup with UGA definitely winning several over the next few years.
It's not far fetched to have them both undefeated in SECCG and both teams make the 4 team playoff. They're both that talented. UGA might actually surpass Alabama's overall talent level if this class pans out as projected.

Alabama had 6 true freshmen on the field on offense in the 4th quarter of the title game. The staff believes 7 in the freshman class last year have first round potential. It would take a while for them to “pass” Alabama.
Pans out is a good caveat though. The highest rated class of all time is 2010 Florida, and those kids didn’t win shite.

I think Ohio State should be in this group as well.
I don’t think we’re on Bama’s level yet. Need the 2019 recruitIng class to follow suit of this one. I think it’s fair to say we’re a contender, but as of now I think Bama is the far and away favorite. It’s not like there will be a whole lot of competition for them in the West this year.

Right. There are definitely unknowns with recruiting. The UGA class is heavy on quality offensive lineman and brought in the top dual threat QB and 2 top notch RBs. They will likely redshirt the QB because they already have their guy.

when Bama's dynasty ends Georgia's begins

I know Saban is old and won't coach that much longer... But this UGA vs. BAMA thing has legs to turn into a "5 year war"
They're going to meet in a conference title game and it will become the culminating event the conference looks forward to for the entire few yrs.
It seems Kirby was also the real recruiting catalyst for Saban's staff... They took a significant hit this yr by their standards... 6 or 7 spending on the service. Kirby sitting at 1

They also signed 19 compared to Georgias 26. Saban’s best class ever on paper was the class last year, attained without Kirby Smart. The number 2, 4, 13, 21, 28 , 32, 34 overall players in the country included in that. I get that Georgia symbolizes the rebellion against the Death Star, but the empire still has a few more planets to disintegrate.
I agree with the first part of your post though

Kirby is the real deal. He truly learned the art of the process. It's showing on the field and recruiting trail. Georgia is going to be a force for a long time. As long as Saban is at Alabama Alabama will have the edge but once Saban retires Georgia will ascend to the top if Alabama doesn't make the perfect hire.

I think people tend to forget how much time he spent with Saban because of all the offensive coordinators that he has been through. He was definitely an instrumental part of the Alabama dynasty and learned from the best.

Give Florida a couple of years under Mullen and we will see some fantastic WLCP games

Ohio State just pulled in the #2 recruiting class. Under Urban, i don't think Ohio State has finished outside of the top 5 in recruiting.

That was Georgia's dream season. It was a magical season.
It wasn't enough.
