I know they emphasize different groups, but front squats just feel more comfortable to me. Must be my girly hamstrings...

I don't prefer them, but I seem to be disproportionately better at them than a lot of folks. I also don't hate them like many do. Now, overhead? I'd just as soon never do that again.

I honestly have no clue where on my back I put the bar.

It’s easier to hit depth at the heavier weights on front squat due to bar placement.

I did low bar squats for a while when I competed in powerlifting, but that was a while ago.

I did not know there was a low bar position. That looks awful. If I got leaned over like that with heavy weight, I might not make it back, and we don't have safety bars like we did in high school.

I can get better depth with low bar. It is a nice supplemental workout. Really works the lower back more than high bar. I don't do heavy weight though with low bar.

Ever tried using straps on front squats?

LINK

They work great to lock the bar in especially when going heavy

Isn't that defeating the purpose though? Aren't we doing fronts with the specific goal of being in a good clean position? I mean otherwise, just do back squats.

Did a few low yesterday warming up for our heavy set of 3 with 3 second pause. Do not like.
