.45, too embarrassed to say the brand, and that's why it's a truck gun.

Must be a Hi-Point
I keep S&W 357 Model 66-2 snub nose in my truck
and a Lorcin .25 in my wife's vehicle.
I saw a pawn shop on North Market in S'port last week advertising brand new .380's for $125 if anyone is interested.

I live in NOLA, so don't leave a gun in my truck overnight. So generally I have my CCP with me in the truck--G27.
If you don't mind, I'd like to add another question: "Where do you put your truck gun for easy access--holster, compartment, magnet, etc.?" Currently I place mine in the door compartment (easy in / out for CC), but I've been looking into the Under the Steering Wheel holsters for easier access with my right hand. Anyone have any luck with this?
Cats--let me know if you'd prefer that I spin-off.

Police trade in Glock. That way if you ever have to use it for defense, which I am assuming is why you want one in your truck, you aren't counting on some cheap piece of shite to work right.

My opinion of vehicle guns differs from many but use your own judgement. I dont think you should keep a gun in your vehicle overnight or for super extended periods of time. It's not hard to move the gun from car to home at the end of each day. I don't think it's worth risking having someone break into the car and having a gun. I have a gun in my truck only when I am in it. When I am done, I put it back at home.

Not the dumbarses in my neighborhood. They love to leave hand guns loose in their car with unlocked doors... Guess what happens next.

Lorcins come with the 2-piece slide feature where it'll spontaneously split down the middle. Excellent accuracy!
As for me, one my carry guns usually rides along with me in my vehicle, a Kahr CM9. It's a bit down on rounds and I'll eventually replace it with something full sized.
But if I had to suggest a couple I'd say a Ruger SR9E or the Canik TP9. Both can be had for under $350 and are good handguns. The suggestion for a police trade-in Glock is also very good, or any used gun from an established manufacturer for that matter.
You can buy an inexpensive gun for the truck and still get a good gun. The problem is when people slide to the side of "cheap" a little too far. Stick with a reputable brand and don't let a gun being used discourage you.

I have a C&R so I bought a little Polish P64 9mm Makarov to carry in my car. Shoots great and it's inexpensive so if it does get stolen it's no great loss.
