I don't like the Ensminger hire because there is nothing in his past work history that would indicate he is an innovative offensive mind or molder of QB's.

Of course, for LSU's sake, I hope I'm wrong.

That said, Coach O has made his bed. Time for him to lay in it. Anything less than 28 points per game won't cut it, IMO.

If the offensive doesn't score and consume clock, Aranda's defense will get tired. Look what happened to the Bama defense against Georgia in the first half when they played more snaps than they were used to. Then compare it to the second half when the Bama offense consumed clock and scored. Fresh defense.

So, Coach O/E/O I expect first downs and points, innovative play calling and being able to out scheme SEC defenses.

If you can do that, you'll keep the big paychecks. If not, you will be on the fricking street. Be better than expected, it's your only chance at being successful.

We fired a NC winning coach because he couldn’t get over the 10 win mark anymore.

This expectation has not changed. Win championships or get the hell out, Yaw Yaw

Here's how I see next season going:

Defense:
Significantly better on the line. Slightly better at LB. A noticeable step back at DB. Overall, improved.

Offense:
Significantly better on the line. Precipitous dropped off at RB that has not been seen since the early 2000s. WR-no Clue. QB - more physical talent but much less experience. Scheme-no clue. Overall, mediocre, with roughly the same ppg.

Special teams:
FGs:Significantly improved with a new kicker. Returns: Better, because Chark was mostly just competent with a couple of high spikes that he is remembered for.

7-5 on the season. Our schedule is harder. The other SEC teams won't suck as bad. We're starting all over again on offense. We have poor leadership and questionable offensive staff.

The only expectations I have are to get Orgeron and Alleva the frick out ASAP.

Any member of the administration that backs them at this point can get the frick out too.

Including the bowl game, 10-3.

Myles and the offense will be a pleasant surprise. The spring will be a major key.

I'll give you a prediction: It's gonna be cold, it's gonna be grey, and it's gonna last you for the rest of your life.

The biggest problem Brennan is gonna have compared to Etling is turnovers. I know Etling was a terrible passer, but who gets through an entire SEC season with only 2 INTs?!?! Brennan had 2 in the 5 min he played. Ha he played more throughout the season as Canada wanted, even if Canada is still gone, Brennan is a better game manager. Ensminger is a pro style west coast offense guy from all reports and what we saw last year. He’s gonna put a lot on a QB who might not be quite ready for all that yet. I’m predicting he’ll throw at least a dozen picks and with our schedule and negative impact of losing early to teams like Miami and UGA I think we go 6-6.

Regardless of who is the OC or the HC I have the same expectations. I want a National Championship. The bar has not moved. If they can't get it done then replace them, but now it's time to stop the melt, it was fun while it lasted, and get excited about the program.

Ceiling - 10-2 with some luck
Floor - 6-6

I don't expect to compete with the Bamas of the world. We'll be solid, but I just don't expect to ever reach an elite level under O. Not unless Myles Brennan comes out slinging it like the next Peyton Manning.

That’s the problem. The E hire won’t put LSU in the tank to much talent, experience and the D should be lights out. This OC hire should have been on par with the DC someone who would give us an elite offense.

EO is going to keep us in the 9 win range but not have the staff to win championships. Which will make it all the more difficult to get rid of him. That’s what has pissed me off about the whole damn thing.

Great post, but what you said applies to almost any university. Win or get fired is the mentality in CFB , it's no different at LSU.

Arkansas, Florida and Texas A&M will all be better. Miss State will remain strong. LSU plays Auburn on the road; Alabama will be better with Tua.

In short: LSU's schedule will be worse, their talent will be worse and their coaching will be worse.

6 wins or fewer.

Not clear on what you mean by "expectations."

We should all expect LSU to be a 10+ win team every year and be in the playoffs at least once every 4 years. If not, LSU has backtracked and was hypocritical in firing Miles.

If you mean "where do I think LSU will end up with O", I think we win 7 games next year, 5 the year after that, sort of a Mike Archer trajectory.

I have no confidence that there is anyone at LSU holding Orgeron accountable so this disaster is likely going to go on longer than what most people expect.

I also expect there will be lots of posters (some real, some not) complaining that I'm not a "true fan" and that I'm being a "child" for pointing this out, all the way down to losing seasons.

It doesn't need to go that far, but it will. We're already at a point where we should not be.

Continued excellent defensive play; solid offense but nothing special; poor special teams.
