I agree. I’m completely against the removal of statues but to be fair I don’t think it was ever marketed as fighting crime or anything like that, just that people were offended by them.

Exactly. It will end up hurting him more than helping him in the long run.

Can’t wait till the day he gets indicted. You know it’s coming.

I just laughed at the fact that a man claiming moral high ground of tearing down a statue of a confederate general whom "fought to defend slavery" would be so callous to use a machine manufactured by the company responsible for the ovens that killed millions of jews. Not to mention all the slave labor that Krupp used during wwii to manufacture machines of death to kill Americans and our allies.

Just couldn't help but laugh at the irony that was lost on him and 99.99% of his followers.

Don’t say anything like that here man. You’ll get cut. But yes the purpose was to eliminate the history of racism. I think it’s an ineffective way, but that was the purpose.

What new people did he win over though? Seems like he probably alienated a lot more potential voters than won over new voters.
it got him tons of national exposure which is huge if he has any higher plans

How can you eliminate history? History cannot be erased...technically speaking. We could burn every history book in the world and it still wouldn't undo what has already been done.

Whats the cause and effect relationship between the "symbols of racism" and negative/undesirable behaviors?

What did that have to do with lowering the crime rate?

So overall, more shootings. Just less accurate shooters. Not exactly something I would call for celebration, nor would I call it a decrease in crime. It's the opposite. There were more shootings this year.

So if shootings went up, one could reasonably expect that other violent crime also trended upwards.

I mean, I guess it's good that they are getting less accurate... But to hail a 3% increase in gun crime as a decrease in violence because they were shitty shots is kind of disingenuous.

ETA: but NOLA did have the lowest number of murders in 2017 in several years

And was drastically down the last half of the year after a rough start. You know, directly after taking them down.

Not pretending it’s related but it’ll surely bug the OP

But shootings went up. Less deaths =\= less crime. Just means a shitty shooter.
