There have been numerous discussions about the kicker counting against our number, and who the final four should be. The more important question is whether we over committed with our current class?

I'm very pleased with what we got, and it appears that we will close strong. But it also seems that if we had 1 or a few more spots, we could have made this class even better. I'm not talking about star gazing, but being able to offer players who we really like and appear to have a legit chance to sign at this point.

It's hard to gauge these things, and being that this was the first early signing period, I believe our staff did a great job. Do you think they wish at this point that they had held a couple of offers knowing what we have available left to sign?

I’m sure they wish they had 1-2 more but so does 90% of the schools out there. First time with early signing period and coaches getting a feel for how it will shake out. For what our needs were I’m extremely satisfied.
And before people mention Qb and RB is a failure let’s see who if anyone comes in as a grad transfer.

It's hard to say. You look at the guys who we have committed, and who do you say "we shouldn't have taken him." I think the two guys that they felt they didn't need, didn't end up signing.

Sheffer, Provens, maybe Jones or Jenkins, I know y’all love him as an athlete, but D Scott doesn’t fit anywhere on our team. I’m not going crazy abou not getting Joiner or Foster, but it’d be nice to be able to get all 3 DBs (Surtain, Joseph, Goodrich) and both Chase and Watkins.

Do you want a good kicker in last minute win or lose situations? Kicking game is crucial. Good get. Get another one next year.

How does Scott not fit anywhere? Dude will be a freak of a pass rusher?

We needed a kicker, but just for 1 year?

I just think we didn't get all the facts correct with the kicker. I don't think they knew he would count towards the 25 number count. I just hope he is worth it. If he is, it won't matter, but if he is not, we will question this move for years. Especially if Watkins, Foster or Joiner pans out somewhere else

Sheffer's a beast. He's really technically sound and runs great routes.

The only guy I may agree with is Provens. He seemed to be a Canada guy, but now that he's gone its kind of hard to see where Provens fits when you take into account the backs we already have and the ones we could get next season.

I love Sheffer so he was an obvious take imo. He's as well rounded TE as we have had in a few years.

Jones and Jenkins I like to, I think they are both takes. We need as many WR's as we can get because the guys we have now aren't getting it done.

Not star gazing, but you pick the lowest ranked recruits to ax.

Also, who says we CAN sign all those players even if we had the scholarships. They all have major offers.

The kicker ger got is the most important signing as far as position of need. we take the ags completely out of the game by the middle of the 2nd Q with a good kicker. There is probably one DT too many not to name any names which takes away from one of three players, joiner/a WR/ a QB. but thats just assuming a quality QB was even waiting in the wings

I would rather they “waste” a scholarship on a kicker that they can count on than continue to leave the offense hanging 50% of the time.

It might not be flashy, but a reliable kicker is vital.

With the new rule can you take a chance under committing?

There's going to be lots of tight games next year. We'll need every point we can get.

I have been disappointed on his recruiting we have spread the numbers around and do not see the purpose of a kicker for one year. So far in my mind Les Miles was a better recruiter than O as head coach.. que but look how many top LA recruits we have gotten. Its a down year in LA overall.

I don't know what you mean by taking a chance, but if you don't sign 25 (say 23) you can count 2 back the next year if you have 2 EEs. As long as you have the EEs, they can be carried forward until you fill them.
