Hog doggers are even worse.
"I go where my dog goes", etc. Rarely call to ask permission. Will take clips off a T-post so they can pull the barbwire down and drive a 4-wheeler across. Have had many bad experiences dealing with them

I’m sure it can be fun and that there are legit dog hunters out there, but near the Homochitto forest in MS those people would be robbing liquor stores if they weren’t dog hunting.

A lady shoots him in the leg with buckshot, and he keeps going into another block. We go to the power lines and wait. The truck in front of us then gut shoots him, and he comes crawling towards us. I walked up and finished him off with my CC pistol.
That shite right there is exactly what's wrong with this kind of hunting. Pathetic.
Not even going to get into the issues with chasing the deer in a truck.
Anyone that is taking shots like that should have their license revoked. A bad shot is one thing, but shooting at a moving deer? Sad.

I hate people that run deer with dogs. I am sorry but I just do and I do not consider myself a hateful person. I have never had as much trouble with any form of hunters as I have with the deer dog people. Literally less trouble with poachers than the "run my black and tans all over the place" crowd. Bastard dogs even screw with my cattle.
If you cannot get your deer through the regular seasons then you FAIL. Unleashing your hounds to do all the work for you while disrupting the entire forest as well as private land should make you ashamed of yourself. My freezers where full before modern gun even opened you pussies.

DOnt ger me started I hate dog hunters it’s a passion my dad was a dog hunter and he says the only way anyone would kill a deer ggrowing up when he did was with dogs.. I explained to him this is a different time and there are enough deer now days people don’t need to use dogs to kill a deer. I get the part about being a past time but dang it’s sucks every year I get on a good buck and wait on the rut and then they turn the dogs out next door and they always end up on our property atleast once a week for 4 weeks of dog season

At your place in tensas?

Yup, can see why people hate it.
Sounds like a good way to get shot, run over, or in a wreck.
Doesn't really sound like they take to many ethical shots either.

No. Family land in Mississippi. Has a road runs through it.
They let dogs loose on road paralleling north, line up down the road running through my place, then shoot the deer crossing road.
If they don't see them, they haul arse to the next road teeing in or south paralleled

I was legit scared of wrecking bc we were going so fast and it has been raining for 2 days straight. To me that was the worst part of the whole thing.

Wait! They are considerate enough to undo the clips rather than cut all 5 wires? You lucky bastard. This year alone I have repaired god knows how many feet of fence. Both from hunters cutting fence and scared cattle plowing through it.
Once they pick up their precious semi-starved dog with radio collar on my land the great wall of china wouldn't stop them

Its even more fun inside a high fence!

Threads like these make me thankful that both my hunting locations don't have any surrounding dog hunters. We still deal with the occasional poacher and 4wheeler joyriders but those seem like small potatoes compared to a dog hunter.

We’ve got too many deer to do stupid shite like that. I think it was a thing years ago when deer were far more scarce but now there’s no advantage to “hunting” like that.

Sure there is. You can run up the deer on your neighbor's property and blame it all on the dogs.

I hate that there are shitty dog hunters out there, but in our club we have gps collars on all our dogs, and not one has gotten off our lease yet this season.
And the old timers that killed tons of deer in front of dogs must’ve been doing something different than us, cause we don’t hardly kill shite. We run the hell out of them but 90% get away.
We used to run the big dogs and had to jump in trucks and run the roads, but years ago switched to beagles and just ride 4 wheelers and SxS’s and never leave the woods. It used to be done with cb’s but now it’s all 2 way radios.
To the OP, glad you had a blast. Some people love it and some hate. It’s not for everyone.
I was telling my son last weekend how strange it is that when we still hunt, we try to sneak in and out undetected and walk from the camp to the stands in the dark scared to spook a deer. Then when we run dogs, it’s just the opposite, you guys walking thru the woods hooping and hollering just trying to get them up on their feet so the dogs can jump on a track. It’s 2 completely different sports.

It’s been 30 years since I’ve been. And we ran dogs regularly at that time.
Nothing better then socializing and developing strategies with the other hunters. And then the wild chase that ensues.
I’m a still hunter and it’s fun. But I can’t forget those better times.

Grew up dog hunting east and central Mississippi. Had my own pack of dogs by 15. Awesome memories. Wouldn’t trade that history for anything else.
