Nah i'm bullshitting. Grew up doing it, dad was a dog man, ran deer and ran coyotes on the "outside" then got out completely 20+/- yrs ago. Honestly killed more deer slipping away from the dogs than ahead of the dogs. Heard some good shoot 'em up's when they'd break out across a cotton field, too. Shooting a running deer is a heck of a challenge. Sadly corn pilers have ruint dog hunting. Reading the IST/IBT is depressing - "in box stand looking down pipeline"; "in box stand on food plot", jacking off with a fist full of cockleburs sounds more exciting.Posted on 12/29/17 at 10:22 am to White Bear

And we didn't hunt like the mouthbreathers mentioned in the op, we'd take stands in the woods and one dude would take the dogs. Usually still hunt until 8-9 and turn them loose. There was work and some fast driving involved cutting dogs off, etc. before they got scattered all over the place. Been a while since i've heard "he run plumb out of hearing". It was fun but I've accepted the fact it's over.

I've ran hog dawgs for years, I'll follow the dog onto other people's land because we're taking out a nuisance, you should be saying thank you.

Sorry to bust your bubble but I wasn’t trolling. My buddy brought his dog up to find my daughters buck and then my son wanted to go with them (our boys play ball together and are buds). I went into work for a couple hours and then stopped by to pick my son up on my way back to our place. He said they were fixing to turn the dogs out on a back track and asked me to ride along.
He did say that 95% of the time it doesn’t happen as good as it did yesterday.

Well, it’s def different. When set out some dogs at about 3pm on a track they had lost earlier. Within 15 min they jumped the buck and we’re going 60mph down a mid road trying to cut him off with 6 other trucks doing the same thing. Guy on radio says it’s a damn fine buck.
A lady shoots him in the leg with buckshot, and he keeps going into another block. We go to the power lines and wait. The truck in front of us then gut shoots him, and he comes crawling towards us. I walked up and finished him off with my CC pistol.
Deer ended up being a little 1.5 yr old 8 pt. My buddy says that’s a pretty good deer for dog hunting.
I get why he likes it. He’s very social and high energy. He thinks sitting still in a stand is torture. It’s just not for me. I enjoy the peace and quiet more than the crazy “dog race” as they call it. I appreciate his invite and he’s a great guy, but I’m just not a dog guy
That sounds horrendous. I can see where chasing a deer down would be entertaining, but i would much rather know dang well what kind of buck i am shooting before pulling the trigger.

Yep. I have neighbors dogs show up once a year for a couple of days, but its not too bad. Had an old bloodhound one year nestle down under my tree to wait for me to climb down.
But im glad dog hunting is dying out.

Back in the day my old man was in a group of folks, mostly farmers and farm hands and they all hunted with dogs and hunted each others land or land they farmed, etc. Also had a few fairly large clubs around, we were members of one, that ran dogs, too. All that land and the clubs are chopped up with different landowners, lessee's etc. now. Times they do change.
