I'd go back to the Omega with no second thoughts

I have the borealis sea storm with the the similar domed sapphire bezel. Between two toddlers and my habit of banging my watches on whatever is available it has certainly been knocked a few times. Doesn't seem to be an issue

Ceramic is weird. It could take 1000 hits with no issue. Then one weird bump and it shatters.

Yeah, I think I'm going with the Speedie. Would you keep it classic with the scratch prone hesalite (nothing polywatch can't fix) glass--let's be real, plastic--and non display back? I feel like it has more character because it's pretty close to the original, more character, and I think that's why it holds its value more/more desirable despite looking cheaper.

or

go with the sapphire glass and display back for around the same price?

I bought my last one from the grey market, y'all know the name of that dealer on the watch u seek forum? He's based in New York and sells exclusively Speedmasters with the factory 2 year warranty. Screen name starts with a K, and he has a husky dog as his avatar. I've been out of the market for too long to remember.

Sapphire vs hesalite is an individual choice. I would have a hard time making that decision. I love sapphire and also love originality.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak (my dream watch)

Just pay $500-$1000 for a perfect replica of this and get your dream watch. AP charges so much because they want to make it a status symbol and also because AP has to pay shitloads of money for advertising and their thousands of employees and then a huge percentage of what they bring in goes to taxes that they have to in order to make big profits. The replica guys in China don’t have to do those things, are happy to operate on razor thin margins and can make the exact watch for under $1000. Ya the cheap replicas aren’t great at all but the high end ones have Swiss guts and are imperfect.

I would never argue against a Tudor Black Bay (but I prefer the 1st gen with the Tudor Rose). In all honesty, I think I enjoy them more than the Rolexes.

I agree with that.

What did you end up going with?

I am facing a similar dilemma, but I see that you think the sub makes you look like a tool :(

I picked up a Speedmaster this fall (always wanted a sub, but couldn't justify the price) and have really grown to love it.

Fast forward to last week when I picked up a 1999 no date submariner at a terrific price that I intended on selling. I've been wearing it and love it too. I really need to get rid of one of them. I have a decent collection of affordable watches, but can't really justify keeping both of these. Thoughts?

Pic? Can't figure out how to imbed from my phone

A quickie of mine that looked better when I was looking at it outside! The curved bezel and crystal make it hard to get decent shot in the sun.

Here is your pic

While I like them both I would keep the 14060 two liner. In reality, they are quite different watches and it just depends on which one speaks to you. Of all the "must have" watches the Speedy Pro is one of my least favorites, sacrilege I know.

For some reason when I first meet someone with a big rolex I don't particularly trust them.

In my mind why would any good business person send that kind of money on a watch?

I guess I shouldn't stereotype people like that.

You should stereotype them based on the Rolex part, not on how much money they spent.
