I honestly don't notice it, while I am anal about some things that isn't one. I switch watches every day (often at different times) and when I take one off if the movement hacks I pull the stem to stock it and if it doesn't hack (primarily the manual winds) I just let it run down. While the cost of quality winders is not inconsequential the fact I only wear each watch one day every two months means it saves a ton of wear on the movements which lets me increase the service intervals which saves a TON of money.

I can't really suffer through a full Archie video, especially now when he is worse than ever, but I will say you won't go wrong buying something he says to buy, though he craps on a lot of watches that are solid watches.

There are a lot of watches that are incredibly solid that don't get much love. One of my favorites in that category was Fortis.

If you replace Rolex with Sinn, AP,Patek, JLC, Glashutte etc I would agree. But I disagree with the Rolex part. It's so ingrained in us as a society I think everyone knows.

Most people don't know the difference between an invicta, solar seiko diver or other homage watch from a ss Sub C from more than 5 feet away.

I started collecting Pre-Daytona and early manual Daytonas a little over 30 years ago when you could buy 6263s for under $3k. I also had a couple of 6536 and 6538 Subs and a 1665 Double Red Sea Dweller.
I sold all of them when the prices skyrocketed except for a panda 6263 and an exotic dial 6241 and they both live in the safety deposit box. I wear them on special occasions that relate to my kids as both will be passed down when they turn 25. They can either have a really "cool" relic of days gone by or sell them if they like.

While this is true, not everybody knows a Rolex when they see them. For instance, my wife and I just started watching the Cosby show and I noticed that practically all of the Huxtables wear a Rolex, I'm not even sure my wife noticed they were all wearing watches.

i'm the same way, me and my so will be walking through a airport and i'm calling out watches all over the place, presi there, patek there, and she cannot understand how i can tell from so far away.

Will hold most of its value. The GMT function has been VERY useful in travel. Went to Europe this past summer for a one week biz trip and a simple dial spin made all the difference.
