If this is how they’re gonna select, fine. Cancel the CCGs. They are nothing more than a way to penalize the 2 best teams and improve the stock of a team that didn’t make it and promote ones that didn’t.

Yep, Wisconsin would have been in without one. Time to end them, they're worthless

CCG could actually help you sometimes.

Really and truly, you just need to expand the playoffs to 16 and give auto bids to P5 conf champs.

Auburn argument aside.

Take wisky. 12-0 regular season, regarded higher than Bama after regular season play. Their reward? Play another game vs a top 5 opponent. If you lose, you’re obviously not as good as the team sitting at home watching on tv. That just blows my mind

Sadly the best part of college football no longer matters. It's a shame.

More importantly it creates unbalanced outcomes.

Auburn beat Georgia and Alabama in the same month. Georgia beats Auburn. Why in any scenario should Alabama be thought the better team of either.

Had auburn not played. Alabama would still be behind both.

The same with Wisconsin. They were penalized by playing. You can argue their schedule was weak, but they certainly dropped for playing.

They made the conference championship games when the BCS was picking #1 and #2 teams to play. If was an extra game to pad the resumes. I said as soon as the 4 team playoff started the conference championship games are useless.

Just have the two actual best teams play in each conference and you've essentially expanded the playoff

Is it really that hard to understand a conference championship can help bolster your resume but doesn't necessarily guarantee a right in the CFP?

Wisconsin would have been in without the game

B1G expansion has proven to be disastrous for the conference

Yeah they meant something in the BCS SYSTEM. not anymore scrap them. This new system is like the old AP polling crowning a champ in the 80s. Except now they pick whatever 4 teams they want to a playoff conference champs and SOS be damned. All optics. Bcs was better due to computers. 8 team playoff is just right. But they make too much money with title games.

If any one thing points to the elimination of conference championship games, it was today’s playoff selection.

You cannot be this naive. You really think the conferences care what you think? Any idea how much money they make off TV rights for conference championship games? That's all they are about.

Conf championship games were never designed to do anything besides make money and were never intended to be any sort of playoff. They don’t fit. They throw a monkey wrench into playoff format scenarios.

NO.

However you do it - BCS, CFP, it'll always be too subjective.
