Then leave this to someone else.

Seriously.

If he's full of shite, he'll eventually run his mouth to the wrong person, but that isn't you.

Yes, you can go to SOCnet.com and there are threads within there to verify if someone is who they say they are.

Ask him how he celebrated the big birthday this weekend.

Hint: it was the Marine Corps birthday and a former gunny would know that as well as his own.

Really like the idea of pursuing the math avenue as well as asking about the Corealis Effect. But be careful about the CE... I'm no sniper but I've been shooting forever and any shooter can tell you about that one.

You could also ask him what he thought about shooting the M24. it was likely the sniper rifle during his claimed time of service, but it's the Army's rifle. Marines used the M40 platform.

You could see if you can solicit his DD214, too.

Then let it go. When people talk about stolen valor, they are usually talking about guys who were never in the military. It is often hard to disprove specifics of military service.

My former next door neighbor is a MOH awardee. I knew him for over a year, before I found out, and that was only because I noticed his license plate on his truck. Very simple, it was like a vanity tag, but wasn't. Just had MOH and a number. No other real distinction as to what it referred to. I ended up googling his name, and was blown away. You would have never guessed he was a retired Lt. Col and a straight up warrior.

He still goes back to Viet Nam looking for MIAs.

You know what’s worse than these stolen valor morons? People who feel like they have to go out of their way to make themselves seem heroes exposing them.

I understand what those saying ‘let it go’ are getting at, but this guy never shuts up about it. He tries to use it as an excuse as to what he’s had to do for us in the past and makes himself seem better than us for it.

I get it, we work with a guy like this where I am. Everybody just thinks he's an idiot, other veterans out here are totally dismissive of the guy. Ultimately, he pays for it by have no real connections with people he spends half his life with.

Supadave,
What ever happened to the guy in question in this thread?

Is this the same person that you are referring to now?
