My avid LSU friend married a Bama guy (one of the exceptions to the rule-he's a great guy. They long ago recognized it was not a good idea to watch or attend the LSU Bama game together. This should answer your question.

I wouldn't do it.

You will inevitably lose your collective shite on some horrible penalty call (or non call), and freak the frick out in front of them.

I watch the Bama game alone and will continue to watch alone until we beat those bastards.

Yes, eat alot of purple and gold play-dough the night before and take a huge shite in their Bath tub. Just kidding, but going over there is probably a bad idea if you wish to be friends with these people. It's a totally different situation than being at a sports bar or other public venue.

Not only should you not go, but you should bang the wife and then burn their fricking house down

They are confident they will win. They are already rooted in the neighborhood. This is clearly an attempt to establish their dominance over your family. He is looking down at you. You should accept and show up, spike the chip bowl into the coffee table after the first big play and then walk out.

Hope like hell LSU can pull it off. Fly your flag the rest of the year.

Tell your wife you're calling this one and you don't care what they might think because that's just not a good setup. If you're anything like me and might press your arse cheeks against the TV when they show Saban after an LSU score (if we score), then it probably would end the new friendship anyway. Just decline and ask about another time y'all can get together so they don't feel rejected if that's the concern.

You will be agitated in no time. Gain a yard and as a group yell, “Roll Tide!” First down and it, “Roll Tide Roll!” Evening we are winning it is still terrible.

I did it once and now decline every offer (I live in Alabama and many friends/asdociates are Bammers. I just say this is one game I watch alone or with my family. Works for me.

There are a few ways to slice and dice this.....

Either they are ginormous douchebags, or you’re just socially retarded

ORRRR maybe they are just being friendly to the new people in the neighborhood, since you’ve never gone out of your way to introduce yourself.. also, if your wife is decent looking, they could just be trying to find some easy path to smashtown

They should have known better than to invite you. If they're from Bama they ought to know this is more than a football game. For those four hours one day a year we are enemies, not friends.

I watch every Bama/LSU game with Bama fans. Most I know very well, but always some I don't.

It's never as fun as if I watched it alone, regardless of outcome. If we lose, they'll either be direct assholes or go into "bless your heart" mode where they make a concerted effort to let you know how ho hum the result is because it was expected.*

If we win, you'll have to excuse yourself to show any level of excitement. They take it very hard and will hold that grudge until the next Bama win and beyond.

I married into it, so I don't have much of a choice (FWIW, my wife is a distinct exception since she's not as into it as the normal Bama fan). You have a choice. I'd bail.

*This is not across the board, of course. Some will just be genuinely happy with the win and be very graceful. These are the ones I typically stick with after a loss. If you end up doing this, find this person/these people in the place.

Did this twice with an older couple who are the nicest people in the world. Split the series and it still wasn't fun even when we won.

Don't do it.

My wife is a Bama grad and we live across the bay from Mobile. I watch the game with all my Gump neighbors when we don’t attend the games ourselves. I’ve never had any problems other than some back and forth shite talking but nothing serious. Hell I’m the one usually talking the most trash. What I do is invite my Auburn friends because they root for LSU like they have been lifelong LSU fans. Get you some Auburn fans over there cheering against Alabama and then watch them fight out in the front yard. Man that fanbase hates each other. Works the same way when we play Auburn. Bama fans pull for LSU when we play Auburn.

why do you suspect this? it probably doesn't matter but you already tip your hand about how this is such a terrible idea. I love LSU and LSU football and I hate bama football and nick saban. no one needs to around me when we play.

I’d rather be in a prison cell with several hardened prisoners over watching an LSU game with a fricking gump.

Thanks for advice.Wife officially declined and we hung LSU flag tonight. At least we keep our dignity. I’m sure the the psycho who jumped on OU fans was also “pleasant” in carpool.
