I think its fair to say that O will have to prove himself over time to gain the confidence of the fans.
Objectively, he was not qualified for the job.
The Troy loss did not help and will long be remembered, as well as the thumping from State.
we have a quality win at home over Auburn. That's it.
Jury is still out and will be until at least next year.

Yes...my feelings exactly. I always assumed this was going to be a slow bleed. That the most aggravating part about it would be watching fans, happy they finally got rid of Miles, justifying similar or worse records for the local boy whose dream job it was to coach dem Tigahs.

The fact that it all came off the rails so fast has actually adjusted expectations for people whether they realize it or not.
For me as well. Never saw that coming...but yes, and many others predicted the goal post moving when many were suggesting LSU would not win another SEC game, remember? Many here kept suggesting not to buy into that line of thinking because when there was a bit of a turn around we'd suddenly be told to get all hyped for a 9 win season, because in the fact of getting prison raped by State and dragged round by Troy, 9 wins would look like a genius was at the helm. I didn't agree with those worries at the time, but they seem damn prescient now.

We are more than likely going to be worse every year under Orgeron as his ability to maintain/lure genius coordinators is not a sustainable long-term plan when combined with the steady loss of elite and experienced players.
Agreed. You had someone in this thread suggest that "if he can keeo the staff together." By virtue of getting "the best" there's no way to do that...the best coordinators want to move on to either better coordinator jobs in the NFL, or more likely head gigs. We bought a revolving door system from a guy that openly says he's going to stay out of the way. For me, this sounds like every time we have to hire a new guy, the excuse machine will light up declaring the need for time for the "new" system to be installed and for him to get "his" players. Ugh...

Basically, I'll be stoked to beat Bama and as always

Yup.

A major source of the disappointment for some of us with the coaching hire. And with numerous coaching changes that will come in the SEC, the right coaches can keep LSU from seriously contending for titles.

I've already forgiven Coach O. I love the resilience this team has displayed. I think the team and the coaches have proven a lot over the last few weeks, and I have enjoyed watching it.
If LSU beats Alabama, at that point, if there are any fans who still hate coach O, and are not happy with the win, they are crazy.

Saban lost to UAB and ULM. Winning cures all ill feelings.

Really? Why?
Most people think Brennan and/or Narcisse are the real deal. Most people think Canada will be able to truly implement his O around these two.
Yes we lose Guice, but the power run game will never beat Bama. A diversified offense will. We lose Chark, but add Johnathon Giles, Texas Tech's leading WR before he transferred. Our OL will be more seasoned. Malone leaves, but he was a weak link.
We lose Key, but he's been injured or ineffective most of the season. Next year we get White as a junior, Greedy and Delpit are sophmores. Chaisson will take over for Key. A healthy Lawrence and Alexander joined by Fehko and Shelvin. Phillips the #1 ILB in the nation will be a sophomore. Hopefully Stevens the #1 safety settles in next to Delpit.
IDK, next season looks like a good one for the Tigers.

Sad part is it really doesn't matter what Coach O does. Many on here will still not except him as the head coach and that's truly sad!

If he beats Bama, he will be extremely accepted next week and no one will really give a shite about Troy. When he loses again, then Troy will be brought up again though.
It's almost like people are just now finding out that being the HC means you have to keep proving yourself all of the time.
It's like some people think that's some new thing when Orgeron was hired.

Yep. And we saw it every season that miles was here. And it really kicked up after saban went to bama. I actually had a friend on Facebook say "I'd rather lose with O than win with miles".

Yes!
A bama win would be a signature win for CEO...to compliment his historic loss to Troy.

If he beats Alabama, then wins the 3 games after that, then yes, everything is forgiven for this year.
The Troy loss would still suck, but you could arguably mark it up as the necessary evil it took to get LSU going in the right direction. If the Troy loss refocused the HC, players, etc., allowed the program to gain a direction, and became the galvanizing event that led to an SEC West (potential SEC title), then so be it.
That is EXACTLY what happened in 2001. LSU got beat at UT then was crushed by Florida at home. A few games later they were beat at home by an average Ole Miss team. In fact, Saban and the team were booed going into halftime of that game. Fans were furious that Sanban and OC, Jimbo Fisher were too conservative.
The following week LSU completely opened up the offense vs. Alabama (Josh Reed game). They went on a tear to finish the season as SEC champs.

As for me, I would forgive him for the crappy loss to Troy if LSU beats Alabama (which I don't see happening). The one good thing that happened as a result of the Troy loss was that it definitely lit a fire under the team, which had been playing very lackadaisical up to that point. Maybe they needed that loss to wake 'em up.

What does your response have to do with my post? I was responding to a statement from another about this season being a high water mark.

you understand we don’t control our own destiny because we lost to Troy right?

I think they did, but if you make 3.5 mill to motivate and recruit you shouldn’t need a ducking loss to Troy.
