quote:

HOUSTON - Two Astros fans love their 'Stros, but they say they didn't get the playoff seats they paid for. They want the Astros to make it right. It's a sensitive and embarrassing situation, one Marc Duncan said Minute Maid managers should have helped with. As the Astros were sliding away from the Yankees in the ALCS, Duncan and his wife missed the moves that got the Astros to the World Series. Duncan paid $700 for two seats in section 321, row 8, but they were partially occupied.

quote:

A fan seated next to them was so large he took up his own seat and half of both seats on either side of him. "It was a difficult situation. I felt bad for him," Duncan said. "I didn't want to embarrass him, and yet at the same time, I thought my personal space started at the arm rest." Duncan is recovering from colon cancer. He could not physically stand to watch the game, so his wife did. They finally stopped a seat attendant, and then went through three levels of employees at the park.

quote:

With no place to sit, Duncan and his wife left at inning 3. After multiple calls to the park, a guest relations manager offered them two tickets to a regular season game next year. When asked what he would like to say to the managers at the Astros, Duncan said, "Irrespective of what you feel like you owe us or don't owe us, that you, really for your own sakes to have a policy in place 'cause this will come up again."

Should have put big boy on the end, then couple share a seat and 1/2 basically next to him.

or put big boy in handicap area where he can fit.

Had this happen to me at the Auburn LSU game this year. This old man decided to start bringing his big fat daughter to the games, and I was stuck sharing my seat with her. I ended up leaving my seats and sitting in someone else’s so I wouldn’t have to share with her thigh

Edit: this is lower bowl east side, so we have seat backs, and a gap in between the seats. She’s still spilling over and sharing my seat with me

frick that.

If I paid $700 for the seats, I'm going to sit in my seats somehow.

Before long there will be "plus size" seats added to stadiums similar to handicapped seats IMO. Put a size disclaimer when buying tickets for normal seats that you're subject to being removed from your seat should you be overflowing into another seat.

This is why I don't attend games anymore. Had it happen this year myself, not a fat person, but it was bench seating and there were 20 seats and about 25 people in the row.

I'm done with it after that. Games look great from my TV.

I'm a little confused. So were the tix he bought side-by-side?

Because if so, it sounds like the obese dude sat in one of their seats for the sake of not having anyone directly on either side of him.

If that was the case, I fail to see how the stadium employees would've refused to help.

So the natural response is to alert the media.

Sports teams, concert venues, and airlines all too afraid of possibly getting bad PR by requiring obese people to buy 2 tickets if their fat asses are too big to fit in a single seat. I think the majority of people would be in favor of that type of policy because normal people generally wouldn't appreciate spending their hard earned money for a seat that they're being squeezed out of because someone else is so fat they take up their seat and half of the seat next to them.

They should have made big boy move. My season tickets in Tiger Stadium are on the top row in 412 close to the isle. People are constantly sitting my seats. I always make them move. Its simple, show them your ticket ans tell them that these are your seats.
