I'm trying to get some advice on LSU dorms since my son will be on campus next fall. Thanks.

Side question: Are freshman forced to live in dorms first year now? I thought I heard something about that. Thanks.

We used to light fires in trash cans at the Pentagon.

Not the Pentagon or or Horse Shoe. Try to get in the newer ones like BRC or ERC unless you want him to have a "this is disgusting but awesome" dorm experience then go Kirby Smith or Dirty Herg.

Dorms are great. You can always find dope and penicillin is free at the med center. Your son is gonna have a blast.

Kirby or bust.

Seriously, don't waste your money. He will probably spend most of his time at his boyfriends place anyway.

Herget was pretty fun when I was there... pretty sure the smallest rooms on campus, but I always thought that kind made people be social..had some awesome times in the lobby/patio

I remember Blake being nice and newly renovated when I was there. But I'd honestly go for the dirty dorm experience. Herget > Kirby.

My advice is to avoid the older dorms (Pentagon, Herget, McVoy, Horseshoe, etc) and move into the newer ones that have been built in the last 10 years. I'm sure res-life does a tour if you want to do that.

If your kid likes semen and vomit, I would recommend Kirby Smith. If he likes Hep C, then El Cid is the way to go.

Tell him to declare engineering or business. Regardless of whether or not he wants to do either, they will let him into the Engineering Residential College dorm or the Business Residential College dorm.

I was in Highland Hall for the first year. No air con but you got used to it pretty quick. The rest of the time I was in one of the Lavilles...East or West...whichever wasn't the chick dorm. I liked living on campus. I worked part time in Allen Hall, so everything I needed was right there. LSU is a city in itself.
