Scientists at CERN are bemused as to why the universe exists, according to a new study.

As Cosmos Magazine reports (via The Independent), recent discoveries suggest that there's a perfect symmetry between matter and antimatter - meaning it's not clear why they didn't annihilate each other upon the birth of the universe.

CERN's latest study sought to find out whether different magnetic properties accounted for matter's seeming victory after the Big Bang, but found another point of symmetry.

Essentially, going by our findings so far, there simply shouldn't be a universe.

At this point I wonder if even they know what they are talking about.

I say God did it. He is why it is.

Not to fill gaps, just based on my life experience and how that informs my beliefs.

But to each their own.

Hopefully the universe realizes and corrects its mistake.

So they figured out that the odds of all of us and this shite being here is really, REALLY fricking small?

Holy shite.

How much did his study cost?

I used to get bad anxiety just sitting there trying to process how vast the the known universe is and how small and irrelevant I am in that big picture. We're literally just floating on this sphere, in all directions is just vast emptiness.

All of CERN’s conclusions are based on the earth being a sphere.

The earth is flat.

What if the universe is slowing dissolving and eating itself? It's just taking hundred of billions of year and to us it seems like everything is staying the same, but the universe is truly eroding into itself.

Fixed. There should be a universe, we're simply too ignorant at this point to figure it out.

These scientists sound like idiots.
