Let's be honest, most of the really high-value women that would make a guy want to hang up the spurs wouldn't entertain the idea of anyone other than a successful, driven, established man. Having your career and pursuits other than just pleasing her is part of the charm. If a guy is too available they wouldn't want them anyway.
Very true.
I've said this in other threads but once I changed the playbook to distance, mystery, and disinterest it seemed to make my dates more interested in me.
Which to this day bewilders the frick out of me, but we march forward .

I'll tell you the mistake.
There is nothing missing from the formula. Or maybe there is... who knows. The issue is that you tried to develop an equation to describe a woman's feelings.
I'm an engineer and I'm not even ballsy enough to try to math my way through that.

I dont think its “dying” so much as people are lazy when it comes to doing whatever it takes to making relationships work, Most of that is because alot of people just dont know how to truly communicate these days and I find there is also a lack of patience these days.
Ive been married for almost 12 years now and my wife and I made a commitment ftom the very start that we woukd always communicate with each other over anything at all. And for that reason, we are able to avoid arguments and fights bc they never escalate to that point. Sure we dont always agree with the others opinion on something, but we talk about it instead of just instantly getting pissed at each other. The younger generation has grown up without having to truly communicate face to face about everything. Sure texting was around when I was growing up, but it wasn’t prevalent like it is now.
As previously mentioned, I think “dating in groups” is ALOT more prevalent these days compared to many years past. I dont think couples get the 1 on 1 time needed to truly get to know each other and also causes them to communicate with only rach ither. Sure we went out with friends as well but I know I went on more dates with only myself and my date alot more than with others.
When it comes down to it, lack of communication is one of the main problems with society as a whole these days. Sure technology has been good but its also been a downfall as well.

I'm glad that I'm in my mid-thirties. This sounds miserable.

Fear of divorce and not being able to handle no seems to have wussified men. Or maybe it's just we see it everywhere now instead of in highschool hallways and shitty bars.

Fear of divorce and losing half of your shite for the rest of your life is a very valid reason to be worried.

I don't have time to respond to all ..
But what is miserable about personal freedom while still getting laid and without a commitment?

String theory, but only for one week every month.

eh. being alone and doing whatever ya want is pretty damn great, tbh
i much prefer it to any form of cohabitating relationship.
I used to think this way but am starting to think different. Been dating a girl 5 years (long distance so I've had my cake and eat it too) and the idea of her moving closer and getting engaged is more appealing now than it used to be. Mostly because the single and free life is great when all your friends are single and outgoing. When they start settling down it gets old quick cause you end up going out by yourself

I think some people feel awkward alone in public. There is a major social stigma against doing things alone like going to a movie, eating in a sit down restaurant, or attending a concert by one's self. I have had some good times doing things on my own, but they feel rather hollow and empty. It's more fun to do things with friends or a significant other even though that usually requires some compromises. I wouldn't be shocked if half of all unmarried couples are mostly together just so that each person has someone to go to things with that they otherwise wouldn't feel like they could do single.

I am the exact opposite. I had a 5 year and 3 year relationship from the age of 19 to 28.
I am being honest when I say the first year (29) made me feel like I needed someone due to past history, but I learned how to play the new game and more importantly learned to live alone! the last two year (30,31) have been some of the best of my life.
Meet all kinds of new people and different kinds of ladies. It's been awesome.
I am sure at some point i'll want that bond and connection again, but this life is hard to let go of right now.

Is there really? Because I think it's more the insecurity of the person going alone than anything else. Most people don't notice or care if you do something alone.
