Hopefully he can with some key guys returning from injury this week.

Is it possible? Yes.
Probable? No
Why? O may not have the tools to be a HC for a school like LSU - just as relevant, however, is the fact that this environment of "I want it now with no room for error or excuses" means that it's gotta turn around quickly - like a commodity trader who's losing on a big position, it's not necessarily that your rationale for your position is all bad, but you've simply run out of time. Coach O finds himself in this quandary now - some maybe not his doing (injuries and poor recruiting of OL), some his own mismanagement.
Some of you "insiders" appear to have known much more than the average fan about Coach O's bad personality traits - odd that very few spoke up then to this degree and also odd that those who worked hand in hand with him didn't speak up if they didn't believe in him. For that reason alone, I say "this is the bed we made - it's ours to sleep in it now". What will be the defining moment is when the players and coaches go public to defend O - or attempt to bury him. Seems like most are hoping for the latter.

I hate to break it to you, OMalley, but the wheels have ALREADY come off.

Based on his records at Ole Miss, NO. A zebra can't change stripes and O can't learn from past mistakes and he just can't coach.

Pro-O arguments:
“Mississippi State is one of the best teams in America, and will challenge Alabama.”
“Our team (full of five and four-star recruits) has no talent.”
“Give O time. Saban lost to UAB.”
Are you guys seriously saying Orgeron = Saban?

they will line up excuse after excuse for him

if our defense hadn't fallen off so much we'd 4-1 at worse with a closer loss to Moo State. hell, we might even be 5-0. young secondary who are missing assignments like young guys do and thin and injury riddled dline. it is possible that the dline could get healthy and with the stars back on the dline, key getting back to shape, the defense gives us a chance in every game. offense isn't that bad. not what it should be, but we're moving the ball and scoring.
there's a reason why it could turn around. defense getting healthier and better. not out of the question.

I believe he deserves at least one season to show significant progress. Regardless, he’s not getting fired before after next season, so just accept that.

I don't know about long term. I'm just taking it week by week

Sure. If he stops meddling and concerne himself with preparing the players to play and he can sign a great class, I don't expect him to do any of that though.

No. Interfering with Canada is moving in the wrong direction. He’s in a hole and responds by continuing to dig. He’s in over his head. His hire was a terrible and costly mistake for LSU.

Saban rolled into Alabama when it was under sanctions. All their last 2 years of wins vacated. Previous year was 6-7 if allowed to count wins. His first year he went 7-6 (still under sanctions). That's hardly the head start O had with LSU.
Saban rolled into LSU after 2 of the worst seasons.. 4-7, 3-8. His first year was 8-4. Again, hardly the head start O had with LSU.
Oregon rolled into LSU with 9-3 record and we see the results.
Oregon rolled into Ole Miss with a 4-7 record and had 3 of the worst years in history. Houston Nutt took over after a 3-9 year (Oregon's last year) and put up a 9-4 year
I will never 'like' Saban again, but I do respect his ability. Oregon should never be mentioned in the same sentence as Saban, ever. We have a seasoned loser as head coach. That's not a personal attack, but a testament to his losing record and inability to anything but be the reverse Midas and turn gold into crap.

I don't...but then I never thought he could point it in the right direction to start with. I just assumed that the downfall would be slow and painful. A quick implosion is even hard for me to believe.
This.
The Ed Ogeron tenure was ALWAYS going to be a big waste of time if the ultimate goal was to make LSU a national championship contender again. AT BEST he would have kept the program stagnant. More realistically was the possibility (which is becoming reality) that he was going to regress the program. I figured 3 years of 7-8 wins and being an "also ran" in the SEC would ended this waste of time. I did not think he would bottom things out so quickly.

Get physically dominated by an inferior program you've owned for decades that has since gone in the tank since beating you? Nope no reason to panic
Narrowly escape a home game with an ACC cellar dweller? Ah no biggie
Lose to Troy St on homecoming? Nah keep calm.
You're totally right, nothing to see here.
