While I am not as experienced internationally as some (more domestically) my favorite trip was Belgium. 21 days and we rented a car, hit many cities in Belgium such as Ghent, Bruge, Antwerp, Leige, Dinant, Rochefort, Namur, and Brussels. Saw many things and spoke with so many people it was great. Was an absolutely beautiful country and not something that should be three days in and then out, they have a ton of history.
Drank a lot of beer, went to a lot of churches, took a tour of an underground tunnel that people used during WWII, saw several Forts, and visited a few monasteries.

Not necessarily favorite, but Muscat, Oman was interesting. Went for work so only had a few days of sight seeing, but a unique and surprisingly pretty place in spots.

I have been fortunate to go to every Asian country minus Laos, been to India, Kazakhstan, West Africa, Georgia, Baltics, etc but still to this day, my favorite vacation and trip is Peru.
Did a week for Macchu Picchu, Cusco, etc and loved every minute of it. Then after a week of hiking, went to Mancora for another week. The food and beer was delicious and cheap.
In the Mountains and jungle, lots of great meat (Alpaca) and lots of potato dishes. Then hit Lima and Mancora and the seafood was like being in another country.
Great variety, lots of history, and relatively good transportation.
I tell everyone if you can, go to Macchu Picchu when you are young so you can climb Wayna Picchu and others that becomes a lot harder later on. Saw many senior travel groups who did not get the full experience due to limited mobility.

South island of New Zealand via B&B's with a rental car. Just a stunningly beautiful island, very friendly people, and no crowds. A wide variety in scenery and lots of things to do.

Switzerland. We drove to Lucerne from Luxembourg and then spent several days visiting different towns, out of Lucerne. Incredibly beautiful. Mt Pilatus is breathtaking. I would love to go back and do some summer outdoor stuff.

This just makes me realize I really need to travel more. A trip to Europe especially. My only experience with Europe was a layover at Heathrow on the way to Kenya.
To answer...Costa Rica.

Probably French wine country (Alsace and Burgundy).
Agree with another poster that Lucerne is amazing.
Have done many of the large European capitals, but never tire of London, Paris and Rome. Could live in any of those for the rest of my life and be happy as a clam.

Was fortunate enough to spend 10 days on this yacht in the French West Indies in 2006. Was a ridiculously opulent vacation.

I've had a lot of good trips. My first time in Copenhagen in 2001 was pretty magical. And the trip we took last year to Estonia,Latvia and Lithuania was really great. Met and talked to a lot of people a few of whom my wife is friends with on facebook. Same trip we started in Helsinki and met a couple from Austin at an Alvar Alto (Architect) tour. We hung out with them in Austin last time we were there. But my favorite time was the 2 weeks we spent in Amsterdam staying at a friends place just off Prinsengracht. It was during the World Cup when the Dutch made the finals so the city was electric.

I'd rather spend time from P'cola Beach to PCB than any place on Earth.

Tuscan countryside in Italy... could spend months there and not get bored!

The Tuscan countryside would be high on my list, in fact we are going back there next March. #1 on my list of favorite vacation destinations is Paris.

Highly recommend a tiny little village called Monticchiello that is in the Orcia Valley in Tuscany.

A) For natural beauty, the Swiss Alps, the Canadian Rockies, and the Hawaiian island of Kauai.
B) For culture and history, Italy.
C) For repeat visits to a place just doing the things I personally enjoy - such as museums, steakhouses, big production shows, comedy clubs, sporting events, etc. - New York.
D) For theme / amusement parks, Cedar Point and Walt Disney World.
