You got that right! I was in Afghanistan working as a contractor when she filed making $250k, they tried and successfully based my income on that one year salary... Took over a year to reduce it to $980. Original amount was $2300... Took over 5k legal fees to get it reduced...

Granted, the spousal support will end once we are divorced.
Based on what? Interim support will turn into permanent unless she gets remarried or there is a material change in circumstances. You better hope you have some good cheating evidence. And I mean her sucking or fricking some BBC on video. For some judges, that may not even be enough evidence.

Some people work it out.
A buddy if mine pays no child support Ina formal demeanor.
He's remarried and has his boy a lot and pay for everything for him. His ex and that have it worked out and still attend shite together. Granted their relationship didn't end violently. His kid is on his healthcare. He even carried his wife on healthcare till everything was final.
Even brought her to the hospital when she was sick. Y'all have to still be friends man.
How bad was your breakup?

I make less than half of what you make and will have more disposable income. That sucks.

If he is truly miserable, as I was, it is worth every penny to get out of a soul wrenching relationship.

A lot of the laws have changed recently. My lawyer and her lawyer both told her that. Its not like that anymore unless you make an extreme amount of money, married for a really long time and the ex hasn't worked in years. My lawyer said her last client who had to pay permanent spousal was a brain surgeon married 20+ years and the wife never worked. Even with mine being part time when the final divorce comes it will be based on her potential income of working full time.
ETA: The reason why its full time is because both our kids are over 5. If the child is under 5 and your spouse doesn't work or is part time then you can't use that formula because they aren't in school yet and require all day care.

If you pay for health insurance, dental, and things like that for the kid, it will lower what you pay in child support.

Female perspective - hormones are crazy for a while after having a baby - and being completely alone with a baby/toddler for 2 weeks at a time can make you start to feel a little crazy. And breast feeding for a year and a half? Mama needs a drink asap. Your baby is 1 1/2, so I'm assuming you've only been married for a few years...calm down and go see a marriage counselor - you'd be amazed at how much an outside perspective can help both of you.

This doesn’t seem to be the case in Louisiana. My BF had to pay spousal support during their separation, but it ended as soon as they were divorced. No cheating or anything.

Yammie, your lawyer lied to you. Judge isn't going to care if she has a boyfriend or not.

Child Support Worksheet
I didn't do the math on your situation - but based on experience you are looking in the range of 1000-1300/month.

Then why am I officially divorced next month instead of next year?

Yeah, you don’t have to wait the 6 mo/year if you can prove infidelity.
