Hire a good lawyer. Child support is based on a formula, but you still need someone who will advocate for you to get more than every other weekend with your kid (if you want).

I'd rethink that @Snizzle. Once you cross that line, there ain't no going back. And it's going to be a bitch for quite some time.

Pretty much exactly my situation. 60/40 income and 50/50 custody. Our kids are in private school. We split child costs 50/50 and I pay $0.00 in child support.

Why not try marriage counseling if it's a "nagging" issue? Did she cheat on you? Is she abusing you or the kids?

You must have fallen in love at some point, right? Why not try to rekindle that?

Anyways, if $1500 is really the amount like some have suggested, then you'll be doing just fine IMO. And no where near broke.

$110,000 is ~$75,000 after taxes and insurance (I'm assuming if you're making $110k, your employer probably covers a chunk of your health insurance).

That's ~$6250/month.

Minus $1500/month in child support...plus let's add an extra $750 just because we'll assume you're a good father and will want to provide nice things for your kids along with saving for their college.

That leaves you with ~$4000/month after taxes, insurance, and child support.

And you'll be single.

Problem with your idea is that his 110k job might not be guaranteed for 18 years.

Prepare to be shocked. They use your gross income I know people who's support number leaves them a negative amount to live off and woman gets $1,500/mo to take care of a toddler.

And the woman gets to keep the kid and control everything. It's a racket.
