Mall city. Back in the 80s this part of town was what Gardere is today. I seem to remember some kind of sweep the police did, going door to door to search for drugs and weapons. I have no idea if this really happened or how in the world it would have been legal but I do remember that crime in that neighborhood dropped dramatically. Of course it could have just been that at the same time Gardere went from 90% LSU students to 90% Section 8.

I'm pretty sure we aren't allowed to care because that would undermine the NFL protests which are more important because they concern cops Or Trump or white privilege or something. Forgive me ,I've been gone for a few hours and I'm sure it's changed in some way but I know that white Baton Rougeans aren't allowed to have an opinion on this .

Is that still considered Mall City?

I have friends that refer to it as "Little Havana" or "Little Mexico"

There's a BRPD station at Lobdell and Florida.
They've been busy.

This is the crap that leaders (such as the mayor, and the self-proclaimed leader gravy chambers) in Baton Rouge community need to address.

Not implicit bias training implementation for cops.
