What is the last stupid thing you have done in the kitchen?

So last night I pulled a hot baking sheet out of the oven and closed the door. It was only then that i realized that i had no place to set it and the mitt was getting hot. Out of reflex, i grabbed the hot pan with my non mitted hand and burned the shite out of myself.
I am just looking for stories from you fine folks to let me know that I am not the only person who has done this. Or am I just a total noob in the kitchen?

Every time I take a pan from the stove and put it in the oven to finish cooking, it never fails that I grab it with my bare hand when I go to take it out.

Absolutely never fails that I forget a single ingredient at the grocery even if I have meticulously copied the recipe to the grocery list. I just completely space out

Every time I open the oven I make sure to put my face as close to the opening as possible as to ensure I scorch my face with the hot air burst that follows opening the oven

Made my own sandwich with my wife sitting nearby.

Trying to be cute by not spicing something to taste but rather eyeballing how much spice I think something needs, only to find out I used entirely too much.

Used my mandoline without the guard. Served up a little freshly grated knuckle salad.

Searing chicken on the stove in a cast iron. Put the whole thing in the stove with some butter. Take it out of the stove with an oven mitt. Put the chicken on the plate. Get out the heavy cream, white wine to make a pan sauce. Grab the handle to swirl everything around. Burn my hand for days.
Happens every. Single. Time.

Leave plates or plastic bags on the stove when the stove is hot.

Saturday, I made stuffed jalapenos. During the cleaning out of the peppers, I brushed my face with my right hand. Oh boy was that bad. Just glad I did not get close to my eyes.

Ok. Im glad that i am not alone in this lol. I slept on the couch with my hand hanging in a bowl of ice water. I woke up at about four oclock and it wasnt hurting as bad anymore so i was able to crawl in bed. It was a rough night lol.

It's locked now, but here is my cooking fail thread.

Most recent wasn't too bad. Put a pot of water on the stove and turned on the electric range. I stepped away while heating and returned to a melting plastic microwave cover I had left on the range. I had turned the heat on the wrong burner.

Made my first EVER inedible pot of gumbo. I have been blaming it on stupidly using far too much roux in a smaller pot of gumbo than usual, but would that make it taste downright nasty? The chicken and sausage did not taste bad, so I'm not sure what it was. I used some Costco chicken stock and homemade roux.
Would broken roux make it taste bad? It broke when I added to the stock, but after lots of whisking, it incorporated.
My husband tried to save it by transferring it to a much bigger pot and adding water and re-seasoning and simmering it awhile. We thought it was saved, so I served myself a cup. On my last bite I tasted that nasty finish that had been there prior to diluting it, so we poured all of the rest of it out.

Mandolin without the guard. Was slicing sweet potatoes to make chips, thought I could get a few more passes without the guard. Left the tips of my middle and ring finger on the counter. That last 2 inches is never worth it.

Physical - sliced off skin along with radish slices using the mandoline. Now keep the cut proof gloves in the same box with the slicer.
Culinary - grabbed the wrong shaker and managed to "flour" some fish fillets with powdered sugar. Thankfully wasn't serving guests but that first bite was a jarring experience.
It happens - don't beat yourself up.
If the burn is bad enough get yourself some silver sulfadiazine cream to help the healing along.
