I found this to be a great help with the oven rack burns.

3 Pack Oven Rack Shields | 100% Certified BPA Free, FDA Approved | Heat Resistant Silicone | Protect Against Burns and Scars

That picture is from Amazon's page for this item. Is anyone else disturbed by the fact that this woman needs the silicone shield to prevent burning herself on the rack, but is barehanding that pie? If it was raw and she was putting it in the oven, no big deal, but that pie is baked so she's taking it out of the oven and it rustles my jimmies.

I was told that an easy way to make caramel is to take a can of condensed milk and place it in boiling water for an hour. Well, I did just that, but I accidentally dozed off and was awaken a while later by a loud BOOM. The water had all boiled off and the can exploded. Caramelized condensed milk splattered all over my kitchen ceiling and walls.

I smoked some wings for the Troy game, when they were done I threw some cabbage wrapped in foil to smoke while the grill was lit.

I of course got drunk watching the game, then remembered to take the cabbage out....on Monday....

Not a stupid thing I did other than getting too drunk to realize my MIL left my nice Japanese Santoku knife in the sink after cleaning up the kitchen after the Fla/LSU game. Glad she cleaned up but hate that I now have a nice rusty knife

This is great, but as you learned, you have to keep up with the water level.

I realize that this is not an old knife - but the principle is the same. No reason you shouldn't be able to restore a blade with relatively superficial rust.
