What made you quit playing football?

People were calling into bomani Jones' show and I thought it would be good for the MSB to come together and discuss the moment that the lightbulb clicked on "I can't do this".
First day of tackling drills my freshman year of high school I got paired up with this huge and fast black kid. When I went to tackle him, he ran right through me. I'm tall so I was able to grab his pads and bring him down, but my head hurt and I was dizzy for like the next two days
That was when I realized that football had quit me

And yes, I know this board is full of people who stopped playing football because they had a scholarship to Harvard and a job paying six figures lined up for them right out of school where they would have the right to frick Margot robbie every night but this is for the rest of us unlucky baws

I wasn't good enough to play beyond HS unless I wanted to walk-on to a D2 team and get my arse whipped every day.

I was very cognizant of my size limitations in football so I chose to stick with my first love, baseball, instead. I was a good athlete but I wasn't trying to get killed

Yeah my coaches told me something like "hey I know some D3 coaches in Mississippi that would take you if you want to keep playing"

I was always taller than everyone growing so I was usually ok when we played smear the queer and other stiff so I thought I was going to be ok with football. It didn't happen

When I played a D1 prospect my senior year. Dude didn't get a sack all game, but he literally picked me up one time and threw me.

I remember thinking I was hot shite going into my senior year and we ended up having to play Temple in a 7 on 7 tournament.
I got stuck w/ covering Lache Seastrunk all game and got torched like three times. Right then was when I knew that some guys are just on another level.
