"not a plan to get Myles in the game. It's a plan to get the second string qb some reps."

What does it all mean?

Not naming 2nd string QB yet?
Or 2nd string qb =/= Myles Brennan?

myles is the 2nd string qb, i just think he's playing it close to the vest by not announcing. the last part is more interesting...leaves the door open to play someone else if etling looks bad.

It means that they're not usurping Etling if they get Brennan some reps

I think it means there are some packages for McMillan in a spread QB read look to use him as a running QB to change pace.

It means the plan is to blow BYU off the field so the backup QB can get all the 4th quarter reps.

I think he's acknowledging the Brennan hype and isn't going to "name drop" when talking about backup reps. Getting the backup some game time is the goal, not just getting Brennan game time.

It's all the same thing, but this is to make it quite clear to Etling that this is still very much his job.

Maybe

It means they aren't forcing Myles into the game but will use him (the 2nd string) either if Danny is bad or they have a large lead

Those 2 ways with large preferred

Orgeron makes less sense than Miles sometimes, which I thought would be really hard to do

You're making this way more complicated than it really is. Etling is the starter. Brennan will come in for mop up duty if possible.

It means, they aren't specifically trying to get Myles Brennan reps but they want to get the second stringer reps in case Etling goes down at some point.

It just so happens that Brennan is the second stringer.

He means that it's about the process and not getting a specific player work.

It means it's not a Myles Brennan thing. It's a second string QB thing. We need to get back ups some reps. Wouldn't matter if it were Brennan or someone else. In other words, don't read a lot into it, hypemachine.

Man. Has trying to decipher Miles for 12 years caused you to disregard the plain meaning of words?

He is saying that there is no plan to put Myles Brennan in with the first team (or while the game's outcome is in doubt). His plan is to play the second team if the opportunity presents itself. The two scenarios are (1) winning big or (2) losing big.

I interpret it as "we are doing it because it's Myles Brennan. If our backup QB were Ratphuc Hobley we'd try and get him reps if we can."

Brennan is a classic pocket passer with a little athleticism, just like Etling. By not singling out Brennan, he forces BYU to game plan for the possibility of facing a true dual threat QB like Narcisse or McMillan.
