This is the type of leader we have to deal with in Jackson.

This is City Councilman DeKeither Stamps. Listen to him at 3:25 for a minute explain his understanding of Uber. His caller is a cabbie.

Then there is his "understanding" of American history. Start at 16:50. Can't make this up. The part to listen to only runs for a minute and a half.

Booker T is running for mayor of Houston. He held up a Wendy's with a shotgun back in the day.

I'd rather have him than Mitch.

So is he saying that Africans were sailing back and forth from Africa to North America 1000 years before Columbus?

"Black folks were here 1000 years before Christopher Columbus was even born, especially in the Miss Valley area... This whole area was covered with black folks that came here from Africa who had came here from Africa and had been going back in forth in the first place."

This claim has been around since the 1860s. Where have you been?

I've never heard that. I am no history buff, but I am fairly knowledgeable on history, especially American History. When you say the claim has been around since 1860 is it like the claim that there is a fountain of youth or city of gold or is there actually credible evidence? I don't know so I'm really asking. Some say the Vikings sailed to North America in 1000AD, but this guys claim was that Africans were doing it 500 years before that. I find that hard to believe.

And it's been debunked countless times. It's simply not true. It's a fairy tale to make the feels better.

He calls his race "African, Native Americans".

He is persuasive but does not persuade.

If you say an untruth loudly, frequently, and with conviction, it becomes for the ignorant and/or the simple-minded listeners a truth.

That group is a sizeable amount of the Jackson voting public.

That's because it's a lie

These black liberation people only get away with it because their target audience is so damn dumb.

Why would people sail all the way to Africa to get slaves when they could just get them from their backyard?
