The World's Highest-Paid Actors 2017: Mark Wahlberg Leads With $68 Million

The Boston native recorded his highest-ever payday thanks to soaring fees for movies such as Transformers: The Last Knight and the forthcoming Daddy's Home 2. The former may have scored a miserable 15% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and the lowest gross of the franchise to date, but Wahlberg need not worry--fixed compensation means he benefits even when movies don't do well.
Wahlberg elbows out last year's top-ranked star, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (No. 2; $65 million). Johnson continues to rake in top dollar for parts in Baywatch and the upcoming Jumanji, earning $50 million more than his 2016 total. While the lifeguard reboot failed to make a splash at the box office, The Rock's checking account remains solid thanks to his lucrative role in HBO's Ballers

Mark Wahlberg $68 million
Dwayne Johnson $65 million
Vin Diesel $54.5 million
Adam Sandler $50.5 million
Jackie Chan $49 million
Robert Downey Jr. $48 million
Tom Cruise $43 million
Shah Rukh Khan $38 million
Salman Khan $37 million
Akshay Kumar $35.5 million
Definitely wasn't expecting Wahlberg to top this list.

Let's be honest. The wrong actors are making all the money.

Pretty sure I didn't see a single movie this year, or last year, with any of those listed.
Edit: I saw one - Captain America: Civil War

I believe Marky Mark was also a producer on Deep Water Horizon and Patriot's Day.

Wahlberg is making the money because he is putting in the work. It's not like he's overpaid per movie.

Hes a producer for HBO's Ballers too. That amount has to include some of the stuff hes producing...

Adam Sandler?!
I think his Netflix money must be included.

I like Mark Wahlberg as an actor and all but paying him (or anyone else) a big arse check for a movie like Transformers is idiotic to the Nth degree.
NOBODY is going to see that shite b/c of him. Nobody gives two shits about the human characters in those flicks. Never have, never will. They could hire minor TV actors off canceled USA shows and nobody would notice.

This explains a lot about the state of movies today.
Is this the bizarro-world era? Or is it going to stay like this? How dumbed down can Hollywood go before the public is just back to watching Tom and Jerry movies?

The shittiest actors making the shittiest movies make the most money.
Says a lot about our society and culture.

Transformers: The Last Knight
Daddy's Home 2
Baywatch
Jumanji
Ballers
I didn't see nor do I plan to see any of this shite.
It makes sense that a discerning actor would be selective and not take just any racoon turd offered. I mean, you're not going to see Daniel Day Lewis in the next Transformers or Baywatch. But it's sad that the crappiest movies are the ones that make the most money because it just encourages continued crap.

No DiCaprio?
It's simple math people, if Leo did 3 movies a year he would be at the top. Doing 1 every 2 years isn't gonna put him on this list

There are actors doing ED and herpes commercials that are more talented than anyone on that list.
