Jon is very bad at making well thought out attack plans and general crappiness in battlefield decisions. At least Sansa called him out for loosing battle of the bastards.

But agreeing to the plan to go steal one, carrying it out in the manner (thank god the hound and then were in the cell or they wouldn't have even had enough people to steal on in the first place). I guesss he already knew dany was going to have to come save them so at least he jumped on that decision quick.

Fast forward through some more minor bullshite but why was he fighting leaving them as sitting ducks? Just became over come with passion to go kill the night king? I guess that is admirable but a horrible way to go about things for the people looking to him to lead.

Maybe he does have a death wish - but he should not be in charge of any batllefield command moving forward because he sucks at it.

So, what now do you do with this zombie? Give it to Cersei and let Qyburn play with it?

I mean, going on a suicide mission with 7 of Westeros' best warriors on the remote chance of finding a single wight instead of tying a dead man outside the Wall at Eastwatch, all in hopes that the Kingslayer convinces his insane sister/lover that the White Walkers are real to send her army to defend Westeros. D&D could have sat on this a while longer, because there's no way in hell this will happen in the books provided the Lord of the Fries lives another 30 years to finish the books. It's just bizarrely impractical to go on a suicide mission to convince someone as batty as Cersei.

The show is still more epic than just about anything ever put on TV. The production value alone is worth watching for.

But I just don't get why people can't admit the quality of the writing has dipped. The breakneck pace is good for finally bringing characters together, but the show has lost a lot of the nuance I've loved. I'm also being asked to just not ask questions about things that make little sense at times.

Ya this episode was cool and all - but outside of the weird array Sansa episodes which may turn out pretty well if there are some subplots going on, this episode felt a bit lazy in the writing.

Why do so many people post during the episode? There is 12 pages of posts between 8 and 9:15. WTF?

I can't take my eyes off the TV when GOT is on.

I watched it beforehand. So I was more just interested in watching the battle on the big screen.

all of this. the writing is objectively worse, unless you're a walking dead fan. it's just doing the same shite that every other TV show does. there is no depth, no subtlety, no nuance. even the Hodors were saying it sucked, and that's saying something

I think it can be rationalized that they arent really trying to convince cersei, instead all the commonfolk of the threat.

I think the plot is dumb too but if they show ALL of KL a wight, opinions may change.

I've kind f been saying the same thing. It was moving two steps too slow in prior seasons and now it's moving a step too fast to really understand why people are doing things and if they have discussed and planned them out. Also as you said, a lot of stuff just feels forced and not as subtle

such a sadness. if martin dies and allows this Walking Dead-level writing to close out his magnum opus, i will weep

They are getting more and more campy. I imagine them getting their ideas from reddit boards and memes. Davos commenting about Gendry still rowing... I half expect some character to tell Lyanna Mormont that if she had three dragons, Westeros would have been at peace years ago.

To be fair, the show is definitely held to a higher standard now. People were certainly more willing to overlook some weak plot devices and story decisions if they came from Martin.

Because it can't go for 12-13 seasons, which it would take to run every rabbit hole and secondary plot GRRM will write for it. Just enough what it is, and read the books for full explanations if he finishes them.

So the polar bear was killed instantly with Jorah's dragonglass dagger.

Apparently Jorah's single dagger was the only dragonglass they took.

Despite Jon preaching about it.

Again, why no fricking archers with dragonglass arrows? The wildlings are excellent archers.

Decoy the Night King out and have wildling archers rain glass on him. War = over

Why do they matter? Are they going to send their own men? Can they all look at the wight? What if Cersei doesn't allow them to leave so she can hold collateral over Dany? I think the later is more likely.

My exact post read as follows:

quote:

Slippy my friend, I think you made the ultra cool super secret Maester's list. Prepare to be thrashed Not saying your feeling is true, but I know the intolerance some have for predictions of any kind.

It was a qualified statement that did not confirm nor deny the prediction Slippy made. It was only meant to tell him that this thread hates predictions.

As far as laughing about it, what's not to laugh about? The bullshite stuff you guys throw around at others who you oppose is pure comedy.
