On gangland it said the bloods and crips tried to move into New Orleans and the gangs here killed them all.

Yes I'm serious. Go look it up.
Considering the amount of rackets they were in and with members and associates numbers in the thousands, they were bigger than every company not named the federal govt.

YouTube has a documentary of gangs in NOLA & BR done by some British guy and the local gang bangers don't want the national guys here. It's gotta go higher than the streets at that point. The politicians who allow the drugs to come in and control distribution must not want them here.

Not really.
NOLA is a whole new breed of animal.
Basically, they identify as themselves first,!by neighborhoods and projects second. Why should they hustle to make money for some other criminals?
It's really that simple. Bloods and crips weren't expecting the Dirty South to not be intimidated by their reputations.

Prison Gangs are hella big in the state of MS but haven't ever caught hold in La. some
Of the more country Baws up in NLa semi gang-bang, but I think that's just because it isn't real gang banging. Seems in MS the gangs are very tied in with chicago. I think it has to do with MS being the original source of the black population up there and many of them have roots in MS.
New Orleans and on a lesser stint BR runs the prison system in LA. Thing is with New Orleans is it has a HUGE population of people that have been there for hubdreds of years and family ties. I remember 40 year olds during Katrina thT had never crossed the lake before. This in turn gives these neighborhoods a family/klan/gang-like tie that some of the other cities don't have. So in essence Nola has gangs but they are much more tied to uncles and cousins and wards than some national brand.

I saw the gangland show as well. I remember the blood and chips also said the NOLA gangs did not have a lot of loyalty they would kill anybody even members in their own gang.

quote:that's just it. The prison system has always been full of majority Nola Baws. That's where gangs sink their claws. If you are committing acts on the street and have a good chance of ending up in prison, you are less likely to 'violate' so you want have such a hard stay in prison. Or if you were to go to prison, you are more likely to join the gang to keep yourself safe and when you get out be mode 'loyal' to said gang due to probably knowing you will be back a time or two.
lot of loyalty they would kill anybody even members in their own gang.
ETA: but if you go to prison in la you will see that the Nola guys stick together and their may be factions between wards and neighborhoods within, depending on the stronghold they have on that prison or dorm. Same shite you would see In cali prisons or whatever with their gangs.

I'm in Alabama.A buddy rents a lot of houses on the other side of the river here.
He'd always find interesting stuff left behind by tenants. One was a spiral notebook left behind by a Blood. It had a list of rules. Also a list of members,I assume.Just nicknames and phone numbers by them.
A lot of language I didn't understand.I thought it was rather comical.
