How come nationally recognized gangs never proliferated in Louisiana?

Bloods
Cripps
Folk Nation
Gangster Disciples
Latin Kings
Etc...
It was always Chicago, LA, New York, Atlanta, Houston...even Little Rock, AR at one point was known for gang activity.
I know NOLA and BR have gang activity, but they're not the larger well-known outfits. Is Louisiana too small of a state to lend itself to the larger criminal organizations?

too little population, even in the larger cities. the cities you mention have massive populations. NO, BR, Shreveport and Jackson, MS all have their share of drug related crime, but the gang warfare is just not there.

Allegedly they tried to get footing post Katrina. The Nola gangs ran them the frick out of town. The small factions of gangs we have are 10x worse than the large more organized gangs

They can thank Silver Dollar Sam.

There here bro. New Orleans is full of them. MS13 had made its way into every major city in Louisiana in some sort of fashion. They just don't have to be out on the streets hustling with today's technology.

The racist statues were not conducive to their beliefs... with them being gone now I expect you will see an increase in their activity

I've been hearing about MS13 for 10 years now, but it seems to be all BS in regards to La.

This is actually true. . It is too violent and disorganized.
There have been some people that have risen to the top in the last 30 years in the drug trade. (since the Marcello family moved on from violent crime)
Richard Penya
Telly Hankton
7th ward Hard head gang ( Pre Katrina )
Richard Penya ( The Cuban ), was the biggest in recent memory.
